Quarterback
Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions ($32)
vs. Oakland Raiders
Stafford gets a soft matchup against a Raiders’ pass defense that is really struggling to limit opposing attacks. Oakland is currently allowing opposing quarterbacks to rack up 18.8 fantasy points per game, eighth-highest in the league. Stafford has steadily raised his level of play as the year has gone on, throwing for multiple touchdowns in three of his last four games. Expect Oakland’s cornerbacks to struggle with both Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate this weekend, making either one a nice stacking option with Stafford for tournaments.
Other notables:
- Tyrod Taylor ($30)
- Matt Ryan ($30)
- Matt Hasselbeck ($28)
- Mark Sanchez ($23)
Running Back
Charcandrick West – Kansas City Chiefs ($22)
@ San Diego Chargers
West is doing an admirable Jamaal Charles impersonation over the past few games, showing some explosiveness along with chops as a receiving back. He turned in a spectacular performance last week, accounting for 161 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns against a tough Denver Broncos‘ defense. Kansas City seems content to run their offense through West, much like they did with Charles when he was healthy. The Chargers remain one of the best matchups for running backs in the league, ranking last in DVOA according to Football Outsiders. It would be a good idea to have a lot of exposure to West this week, just the sixteenth-most expensive runner on Yahoo.
Other notables:
- Danny Woodhead ($21)
- James Starks ($20)
- Ronnie Hillman ($18)
- Jeremy Langford – if Matt Forte is out ($17)
Wide Receiver
Stevie Johnson – San Diego Chargers ($19)
vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Johnson, one of San Diego’s last healthy receivers, should be in store for a big workload yet again this week. In his last game, he played on all 70 of the team’s offensive snaps and saw 10 targets, good for over 20% of the team’s total targets. He should be able to find some room to operate against the Chiefs’ secondary, a unit which is allowing opposing receivers to score 30.6 fantasy points per game, second-highest in the league.
Other notables:
- Golden Tate ($22)
- Rishard Matthews ($21)
- Kamar Aiken ($17)
- Danny Amendola ($16)
Tight End
Eric Ebron – Detroit Lions ($16)
vs. Oakland Raiders
By now it is well-known that the Raiders are struggling to cover tight ends. Ebron is coming off a slow week where he caught just four passes for 28 yards against the Packers. He did, however, see eight targets in the game and has seen less than five targets in only one game this season. Oakland is allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends at 12.9 per game.
Other notables:
- Jacob Tamme ($16)
- Julius Thomas ($13)
- Charles Clay ($13)
Defense
New York Jets ($11)
@ Houston Texans
The Jets will travel to Houston this week to take on a Texans’ team that is without Arian Foster and very well could be without Brian Hoyer, who sustained a concussion during last week’s game. If Hoyer can’t play, look for T.J. Yates to draw the start. The Jets should be able to tee off on Yates, who has not shown much as an NFL quarterback.
Other notables:
- Baltimore Ravens ($10)
- Atlanta Falcons ($10)
