There seems to be no cap on Myles Turner’s potential

With the NBA All-Star Game set for February 14, now is the time for most teams to take an internal gaze at their current situation. Are they in contention for a playoff birth? Do the pieces that make up the team give you the best chance for success in the future? How can we get better? Is all hope lost?

These and many other questions will no doubt be circulating the minds of every organization over the next few weeks. And as a fantasy owner in a dynasty league, you should be asking yourself the very same questions and many more.

If you come to the conclusion that your GM needs to be canned, that is an area we cannot help with…just saying. We do have the power to assist you with recommendations for some budding talents who have promising futures ahead of them, and can still be attained at a reasonable price.

Marcus Smart
Of all the up-and-coming youth at the point guard position, I’m not sure any of them stand out as much as Smart. Not only is his defense smothering, but the offensive production is starting to take shape as well. In the last 15 days, Smart is averaging 13.8 points and knocking down 1.9 three-pointers per game.

The rebounds (4.3) are exceptional for the position, though the assists (3.0) are an area he will need to improve in before becomistang anywhere near elite. Smart has the makings of a seven-category stud, so you should probably jump on him now.

Devin Booker
Let’s face it, you are not pulling the wool over any owner trying to buy on Booker. What you can do is find out if the person that has him is in contention for the playoffs and offer them one of your better pieces who may be a little longer in the tooth. To attain the services of this youthful scorer, you are going to part with a lot more than you are comfortable with.

As long as it doesn’t wreck the construction of your team, we say pay. Your waiver wire is littered with shooting guards who will score 20 points once in a month; Booker could very well average 20 on the season in the near future.

Stanley Johnson
Johnson is nowhere near unseating Marcus Morris for the starting small forward spot, though, what he is doing is solidifying his place as their three for the future. Nothing suggests the current state of small forward and power forward is locked down for many seasons to come, so the opportunity is there. Johnson has seen a five-minute increase compared to his season average over the last seven days and has responded by averaging 14.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.3 three-pointers per game.

Myles Turner
And you thought Booker was pricey? This is where the real spending will need to take place. Recency bias can be one of the best facets of buying low, but in cases such as this, it will you cost you a lot.

You can’t imagine the 16.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game have not occurred over the last 15 days, so you can bet the house his owner is completely smitten. If you want to get Turner on your side of the fence you are going to have to give away the better (or more recognized) player. But don’t fret because you are getting an absolute stud at the power forward/center positions for many years to come.

Nikola Jokic
This is another situation that screams recency bias. A month ago you could probably add Jokic from the wire, but not so much after the past two weeks. We implore you to take caution if attempting to attain Jokic, and do not overspend because you honestly do not have to.

Sure his owner is going to want what they feel is ample compensation for someone performing the way he has recently, but that’s just it, it’s only been recent. The minutes have only now begun to climb higher than the season average of 19, but don’t forget to state that in your offer. This is easily the largest risk of all the recommendations, but the upside is there.
