Don’t let Alexander Steen sit on your waiver wire now that he’s healthy

Boy, if you had Brian Elliot or Zach Parise on your team last week I think you did OK.

Ownership totals are in ESPN leagues as of Tuesday.

Sean Couturier – C – PHI – 41.4 Percent

Arguably the best pure checking center in the NHL has added some offensive upside to his game of late. With nine points in his last ten games, “Coots”, as he is affectionately known in Philly, is a big reason why the Flyers are in the thick of things for that final wild card spot in the East. With a very healthy seven games left to play this season (might want to drop your Oilers players, folks – only 3 games left this season!), Couturier has an outside shot at besting his career high point total of 39 this season.

Rickard Rakell – LW – ANA – 17.5 Percent

Three points in his last three games, eh? It’s almost like being Corey Perry’s linemate is a good thing for you production. With David Perron’s absence, the lines have had to be rejiggered a bit in Anaheim and, as it stands, Rickard Rakell is currently one beneficiary, getting to play with the former 50-goal-man. Like the Flyers, the Ducks also have a high number of games remaining (seven) and are still battling for that top spot in the Pacific. As long as Rakell keeps going to the front of the net, he’ll keep getting rewarded and continue to build on his career year.

Alexander Steen – LW – STL – 59 Percent

Finally back after a month on the shelf, Steen’s return to the ice went well last night in a win over the Avs – two assists and two shots on goal. Still somehow underrated, Steen should be picked up immediately if he’s on your league’s waiver wire. While prone to injury, the Swede just produces when healthy and usually does it while facing the other team’s top line.
