Vincent Velasquez is slated to make his debut for the Phillies this week

Sunday, April 10

Josh Tomlin – Cleveland Indians (13% owned)
@ Chicago White Sox

Tomlin will make his first start of the season against the White Sox in Chicago. Tomlin pitched well last season, posting a 3.02 ERA and 7.81 strikeout percentage over 10 starts. The game being in U.S. Cellular is scary, but Tomlin had success against the White Sox last season, allowing just three earned runs in 11.1 innings of work and striking out 14 batters.

Monday, April 11

Anibal Sanchez – Detroit Tigers (46% owned)
vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Sanchez’s ownership rate dropped from last week, even though he only allowed two runs over five innings in his first start of the season. Sanchez can be a solid producer as long as he stays on the field. He has high enough strikeout upside to take into consideration as a streamer or back-end pitcher for your roster. Backed by a powerful Tigers’ offense, he should be in line for a win most games he starts. He does have a tough matchup against the Pirates, but he’s shown to be a talented pitcher over his career and is more than capable of handling the Pittsburgh lineup.

Tuesday, April 12

Andrew Cashner – San Diego Padres (46% owned)
@ Philadelphia Phillies

Cashner had a rough first start of the year, giving up five runs in four innings to the Dodgers. Los Angeles, just like last season, has been crushing right-handed pitching. He gets a much easier matchup against a Phillies’ offense that was one of the worst in the league in 2015. Last year, the Phillies were 29th in the league in wOBA against right-handed pitching and 27th in ISO. Expect Cashner to bounce back on Tuesday.

Wednesday, April 13

Jerad Eickhoff – Philadelphia Phillies (30% owned)
vs. San Diego Padres

Eickhoff will take aim at a Padres’ offense that was shut out three straight games to being the season. The young right-hander was impressive in his eight starts in 2015, posting a 2.65 ERA and 8.65 strikeouts per nine innings. The Padres could start hitting between now and Wednesday, as they have a weekend series in Coors Field, but they are still a weak offense worth targeting with opposing pitchers.

Thursday, April 14

Vincent Velasquez – Philadelphia Phillies (19% owned)
vs. San Diego Padres

Velasquez came over to the Phillies as the centerpiece of the Ken Giles deal with Houston. He has great stuff and is next in line to take on the struggling San Diego offense. He flashed a good deal of promise in 2015 in 19 appearances with the Astros, posting 9.38 strikeouts per nine innings. He will make his 2nd start of the season on Thursday and should be in line to plow through a weak San Diego lineup.

Friday, April 15

Tom Koehler – Miami Marlins (1% owned)
vs. Atlanta Braves

Koehler has dramatic home/road splits over his career. At home, he has a tidy 3.63 ERA while on the road he sports a not-so-pretty 4.54 mark. Fortunately for streamers, he’s making this start at home against what is expected to be a weak Atlanta offense. He lacks the strikeout upside to be much more than a streaming option, but Friday’s matchup is as good as any to target him.

Saturday, April 16

Chris Young – Kansas City Royals (14% owned)
@ Oakland A’s

Young, at age 36, turned in a great season for the Royals in 2015. He posted a 3.06 ERA and 11 wins in 34 appearances. He heads to Oakland Coliseum, a pitcher-friendly park, to take on an Athletics’ offense that is not expected to be very effective this season. He should be favored in this game and has a good chance at picking up a win.
