Fantasy Baseball Daily Update: Thursday (7/28)
Jay Bruce

Jay Bruce has now hit home runs in five consecutive games

As we move into the stretch run of the fantasy season, owners need their aces to pitch like accordingly to solidify their standing in the playoff race. There have been many great pitching performances wasted this season by poor offensive showings, though, and those outings need to be assessed as well. Two great performances by National League aces, with different results, will open this daily update for July 28, 2016.

What to Watch For

A cross-city matchup of Chris Sale and the White Sox and John Lackey and the Cubs will be the featured contest of Thursday’s slate. Sale was suspended for his last start, but allowed one hit in eight scoreless innings in his previous appearance and has a 14-3 record and 3.18 ERA this season. Lackey has seen his stock spiral downward quickly, as he is winless in his last eight starts (0-5) and has allowed at least three runs in six of those eight appearances to see his ERA jump to 3.79. Johnny Cueto, Jose Fernandez, and Jacob deGrom will also pitch today.
