Rich Hill (SP-OAK)
Hill has found his name in this article a good amount this season. It always seems like he’s been hurt. He’s only made three starts since the beginning of June, and he is currently dealing with a blister on his pitching hand. He lasted just five pitches before being replaced again due to the blister issue. His return is still up in the air, amid trade rumors.

Jhonny Peralta (SS/3B-STL)
Peralta has missed most of the season, as he injured himself during Spring Training activities. He came back and played well. However, he’s back on the 15-day DL with a left thumb ligament strain. He’s expected to be back in early August. In the meantime, Jedd Gyorko and Greg Garcia will continue to see time in the infield.

David Peralta (OF-ARI)
It really has been a bad year for players with the last name Peralta. David Peralta hasn’t played since the middle of June, but he is close to seeing big league action again. He’s been on a rehab assignment since July 13 and was moved to Triple-A last week. When he returns, which is likely to happen this week, we will definitely see less of Rickie Weeks Jr. and Peter O’Brien for the D’backs.

Clayton Kershaw (SP-LAD)
Kershaw was placed on the DL earlier this month, and it wasn’t expected to be a serious injury. However, Kershaw had a setback near the All-Star break, and now there are rumors that he might need surgery to fix a mild disk herniation. His manager, Dave Roberts, hopes this isn’t the case, but the possibility is still out there.

Justin Bour (1B-MIA)
Bour should be back relatively soon after dealing with a right ankle strain. In his absence, the Marlins have been using multiple players to fill in the role, all who will see a decrease in playing time once Bour returns.

Joe Ross (SP-WAS)
Ross is currently on a rehab assignment and should be returning to the Nationals’ rotation in early August. It’s unknown how many rehab starts that he will need, but it shouldn’t be any more than two.

Prince Fielder (1B-TEX)
Fielder will be getting a second opinion on a neck injury that he was placed on the DL for just the other day. There’s a good chance he could have season-ending surgery, but that’s still up in the air. He’s had an awful season, so he’s really not worth holding onto in any format. As for his replacement, Mitch Moreland will see plenty of time at first base.

Craig Kimbrel (CP-BOS)
With Kimbrel out, Koji Uehara assumed the closer role. Now, with Uehara most likely done for the season, Brad Ziegler gets the nod. Ziegler will see consistent closer opportunities for the Boston Red Sox until Kimbrel returns. All reports are that Kimbrel is doing well with his rehab and is scheduled to return around August 1.
