Hitters
Jose Iglesias (SS – DET)
ESPN 6 % owned – Yahoo 4% owned
Iglesias found himself hitting in the 2-hole as of late, which is why I am all over him this weekend. Him hitting in the 2-hole not only gives him extra at-bats, but it also gives him more opportunities to score with the big boys (3-4-5 hitters) hitting behind him.
Did I forget to mention that he is on fire? Well he is! In his last 14 contests, he owns a .326 AVG along with a .375 OBP. If he continues to hit second from here on out, he is a guy to strongly consider in deeper leagues.
Adonis Garcia (3B/OF – ATL)
ESPN 8% owned – Yahoo 5% owned
If you’re looking for a hot bat; don’t look further. Adonis Garcia has been crushing the ball and is a guy to keep on your rosters until he cools down. In his last 30 games, he owns a .358 wOBA along with a .188 ISO. He’s been hitting at the top of the order, so look for him to drive in some runs as well score a few himself. His 3B/OF eligibility makes this pickup even sweeter.
Pitchers
Tyler Chatwood (SP – COL)
ESPN 40% owned – Yahoo 36% owned
Tyler Chatwood isn’t a guy with a whole lot of upside (15.1 K%), but I sure love his matchup tonight. He will be going up against the Mets’ squad that has struggled against right-handed pitching this season. They own a .308 wOBA (21st in MLB) and 22.4 K% (7th in MLB).
They have struggled putting the ball in play with all of the injuries they have faced, which makes Chatwood an excellent pickup. His 10.6 BB% worries me, but I love the matchup and his chances of delivering a quality start. And don’t worry, this game takes place at Citi Field, not Coors.
Bud Norris (SP – LAD)
ESPN 20% owned – Yahoo 22% owned
Are you desperate for some extra fantasy points heading into Sunday’s action? Then go ahead and pickup Bud Norris. Unlike Chatwood, Norris provides you with some upside. He owns a 22.0 K% on the year and going up against a D’backs’ squad that owns a 23.4 K% (6th in MLB) makes this matchup even juicier.
Not only do the D’backs strikeout a ton, but they have also struggled as of late. In their last 30 contests, they own a .301 wOBA (28th in MLB) and 81 wRC+ (28th in MLB). This matchup is setup nicely for Norris, and pitching at Dodger Stadium (one of the friendliest parks for pitchers), will certainly help him out. Don’t be surprised if he has himself a day!
