DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Monday (8/22)
Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos Gonzalez and the Rockies have a great matchup Monday

There are a lot of options on this eight-game slate tonight. With games at Chase Field, Miller Park, Camden Yards, and even Safeco Field, we should see a lot of balls flying out of the park. There’s still opportunity to exploit pitching on the short slate.

Pitchers

David Price (BOS): $11,000 @ TB
Price has looked really good over his last two outings against his former team. He’s had back-to-back 10-strikeout games against the Rays this year. Price has enjoyed a 2.91 ERA over his past five starts. Price has struggled with allowing hits, as he’s allowed a league-high 177 hits on the season. He also hasn’t shown a huge strikeout rate, compiling just 18.6% over his past five games. Despite that, Price has a good shot at a victory and has pitched well against his former team this season.

Doug Fister (HOU): $6,100 @ PIT
This one will make you scratch your head a bit, but stay with me. Fister has been absolutely terrible against lefties, giving up 14 home runs and a .369 wOBA. Good thing for Fister, this Pirates offense doesn’t have too many lefties they can throw at him. Fister has also struggled at Minute Maid Park this year, but he does own a nice 3.36 ERA on the road this year. When you factor in PNC Park being a heavy pitchers park, Fister could be a sneaky play today.

Also Consider:

Catcher

Welington Castillo (ARZ): $3,600 vs ATL
Mike Foltynewicz comes into this game with a 5.04 ERA away from Turner Field. Foltynewicz has surrendered 14 home runs on the season, with 11 of those coming on the road. Needless to say, Foltynewicz is awful when he’s not at the friendly pitcher confines of Turner Field. Chase Field is one of the toughest ballparks for pitchers, so he could get hit very hard. He typically struggles against lefties, but Foltynewicz has also struggled against righties this year. Foltynewicz is allowing a 1.22 HR/9 and a .310 wOBA to righties on the season.

Also Consider:

First Base

Adam Lind (SEA): $3,100 vs NYY
With a late-inning home run on Friday night, Lind now has two home runs over the past week. Even though he has a very poor batting average against righties, Lind still has hit 17 of his 18 home runs against righties this year. Lind has also performed well at Safeco Field, hitting 13 home runs there. When you look at Pineda’s numbers, he’s struggled when at Yankee Stadium and against righties on the year. Even though Pineda has given up 16 home runs at Yankee Stadium, Safeco has turned into a huge home run haven this year.

Also Consider:

Second Base

Daniel Murphy (WAS): $5,300 @ BAL
Murphy has continued his fantastic season. Now that he gets to play this one at Camden Yards, he’s in line for a good day at the plate. Away from Nationals Park, Murphy has hit 15 of his 23 home runs. He also has a .426 wOBA this year against righties. Dylan Bundy hasn’t been that good over his past three games, so I think Murphy should hit him well.

Also Consider:

Third Base

Alex Bregman (HOU): $3,800 @ PIT
Bregman has really turned it on lately, compiling a .340 wOBA in the month of August. Bregman went 0-for-5 yesterday, but over his past six games, he’s hit three home runs. James Taillon has pitched well lately, but he still can give up a good amount of hits here and there.

Also Consider:

  • Jose Ramirez (CLE): $5,200
  • Jake Lamb (ARZ): $4,300

Shortstop

Daniel Descalso (COL): $3,300 @ MIL
Descalso isn’t the best option, but he’s hitting sixth now and gets to bat in a great park for hitters. Sure, this isn’t Coors Field, but Miller Park is right up there with Coors. Descalso is hitting close to .300 on the year against righties. He doesn’t have great power, but he has punched out three homers in limited time this year. Surprisingly, all three of Descalso’s home runs have come on the road this year.

Also Consider:

Outfield

Carlos Gonzalez (COL): $5,200 @ MIL
I’m attacking Jimmy Nelson a lot here. Nelson hasn’t been great this year, but has pitched better at home. Nelson is allowing a 1.29 HR/9 on the season to lefties this season. Gonzalez has never faced Nelson, but Gonzalez has destroyed righties over his career with a .258 ISO.

David Dahl (COL): $4,800 @ MIL
Regardless if Dahl leads off again in place of Charlie Blackmon or not, I still like him tonight. Dahl has been very impressive in his short time in the bigs, hitting .330 in 26 games. Dahl has a .406 wOBA and a .269 ISO against righties as well. If you’re looking for a consistent hitter today, it’s definitely Dahl. He’s collected at least one hit in 24 of his 26 games. Out of his three home runs, two of them have come away from Coors Field.

Khris Davis (OAK): $3,500 vs CLE
You would think that Davis hits most of his home runs against lefties and away from O.co Collesium. However, he’s hit 25 of his 32 home runs against righties, as well as 17 home runs at home. His ISO at home is .282 and his ISO against righties is .270. Needless to say, Davis has been locked in all year. He gets to face Carlos Carrasco, which isn’t the greatest matchup, but Carrasco has allowed at least eight hits in three of his past four starts. Carrasco has also surrendered at least one home run in all but five of his 19 starts on the season.
