Today’s FanDuel lineup advice will focus on the nine-game evening slate. The slate features four top-end pitching options and gaining exposure to at least one of them is critical with limited value options available. Of course, if you are paying up for a high-priced pitcher you will need to find some value hitters and tonight’s slate offers up some solid options.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time.

Pitcher
Jose Fernandez (MIA) $11,000 @ CIN
Fernandez offers a high floor and high ceiling due to his consistently high strikeout rate. He has seven double-digit strikeout games and has at least five strikeouts in every start this season. Fernandez will face a Reds’ offense that has the sixth worst wRC+ (86) and ninth worst wOBA (.308) against righties this season.
Other Notables
- Madison Bumgarner (SF): $11,300 vs NYM
- Danny Salazar (CLE): $9,700 vs CHW
- Reynaldo Lopez (WAS): $6,500 @ ATL
- Archie Bradley (ARI): $6,300 @ SD
Catcher
Cameron Rupp (PHI): $2,700 vs LAD
If you are going to pay up at pitcher you will need to find some value hitters and catcher is a good spot to pay down a little to get some salary relief. Rupp has hits in eight of his last 10 games with a .333 batting average and four homers making him a nice mix of value and upside at catcher.
Other Notables
- Wilson Ramos (WAS): $3,300 @ ATL
- Salvador Perez (KC): $3,200 vs MIN
- Evan Gattis (HOU): $3,000 @ BAL
First Base
Adrian Gonzalez (LAD): $3,200 @ PHI
Gonzalez blasted two homers on Wednesday and is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak batting .450 during the streak. He has a .358 wOBA against righties this season and will face Phillies righty Jerad Eickhoff who has allowed a .345 wOBA to lefties.
Other Notables
- Paul Goldschmidt (ARI): $4,300 @ SD
- Freddie Freeman (ATL): $3,600 vs WAS
- Kendrys Morales (KC): $2,900 vs MIN
Second Base
Chase Utley (LAD): $2,800 @ PHI
Utley is another Dodgers’ hitter that is inexpensive and hitting well with a two-homer day on Tuesday and four multi-hit games in his last seven starts. Utley also has the narrative of returning to Philadelphia where he spent most of his career for a little extra motivation.
Other Notables
- Daniel Murphy (WAS): $4,000 @ ATL
- Brian Dozier (MIN): $3,700 @ KC
- Robinson Cano (SEA): $3,500 @ LAA
Third Base
Yangervis Solarte (SD): $2,900 vs ARI
Solarte has put together a solid season hitting in the middle of the Padres lineup and has hit both lefties and righties well. Tonight he will face Diamondbacks righty Archie Bradley who has really struggled with left-handed batters allowing a .415 wOBA and 2.06 HR/9 this season.
Other Notables
- Manny Machado (BAL): $3,800 vs HOU
- Justin Turner (LAD): $3,400 @ PHI
- Jake Lamb (ARI): $3,200 @ SD
Shortstop
Trea Turner (WAS): $3,700 @ ATL
Turner faced tonight’s opposing pitcher right-hander Rob Whalen just five days ago and went 3-for-3 off of him with a homer. Hitting atop the Nationals lineup, Turner is batting .341 against righties with a .407 wOBA.
Other Notables
- Corey Seager (LAD): $3,800 @ PHI
- Danny Espinosa (WAS): $2,900 @ ATL
- Alcides Escobar (KC): $2,500 vs MIN
Outfielders
Christian Yelich (MIA): $3,500 @ CIN
Yelich consistently makes solid contact with a 39.2% hard hit rate this season which bodes well when facing a pitcher like tonight’s opponent Dan Straily who only strikes out 19.5% of hitters and has allowed a 32.3% hard hit rate this season. Yelich can also take advantage of the Reds’ bullpen who have the second-worst ERA in the league this season.
Alex Dickerson (SD): $2,700 vs ARI
Dickerson has cooled off in August with a .245 average and one home run after a hot July where he hit .303 with five homers. He has fared much better against righties with a .353 wOBA and will face the right-handed Bradley who struggles against lefties.
Brandon Guyer (CLE): $2,500 vs CHW
Guyer is a cheap outfield option with great platoon splits against lefties with a .349 average and .253 ISO against southpaws this season. He will face White Sox lefty Carlos Rodon who has allowed 16 of his 17 home runs and a .365 wOBA to righties this season.
