DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Monday (9/12)

Mike Zunino has been mashing homers off righties this season

We actually have a full 15-game slate for today, something that usually doesn’t happen on Monday. Roster construction should be exciting today and tough to widdle down.

Pitchers

David Price (BOS): $10,700 vs BAL
Price has been extremely good going into this last month of baseball. It’s just what the Red Sox were hoping for when they signed him to that monster contract. Price has gone 6-0 over his past six starts with a 2.14 ERA. He’s also struck out at least seven batters in all but one of those times. Sure, the matchup against Baltimore isn’t easy, but we have definitely seen times that they’ve been shut down this year, even recently.

Wily Peralta (MIL): $6,400 @ CIN
I never in my life thought I would ever be recommending Wily Peralta. Honestly though, this pitching slate stinks so bad, that I had to do it. Since the pitching is so bad, the salaries have skyrocketed for hitters. This in turns makes a DFS player have to play guys that they don’t agree with; Wily Peralta case in point. Peralta hasn’t actually been bad since being recalled back to the Majors last month. He’s compiled a 3.35 ERA in six starts in that span.

Also Consider:

Carlos Carrasco (CLE): $12,200
Kyle Hendricks (CHC): $11,400
Jake Odorizzi (TB): $7,800 (GPP’s only)

Catcher

Mike Zunino (SEA): $2,900 @ LAA
Despite twirling two pretty good starts in his last two, he’s still not that good of a pitcher. Those starts came against two weak offenses. I don’t think the Mariners offense is the greatest out there, but they definitely can do some damage. That includes Zunino here, as he’s pelted homers in back-to-back games. He also has a .341 ISO against righties on the year.

Also Consider:

Jonathan Lucroy (TEX): $5,000
Steven Vogt (OAK): $2,900

First Base

Hanley Ramirez (BOS): $5,500 vs BAL
Ramirez is the top-priced first baseman option on DraftKings, and he definitely deserves that accolade right now. He’s been great recently, hitting seven home runs in his past 14 games. He gets to face his old teammate Wade Miley here. Ramirez has hit .345 off lefties this year with nine home runs. He also has a pretty impressive .310 ISO against southpaws as well. Miley has struggled in an O’s uniform, holding an uninspiring 7.15 ERA.

Also Consider:

Albert Pujols (LAA): $4,900
Josh Bell (PIT): $3,100

Second Base

Brian Dozier (MIN): $5,600 @ DET
Dozier has cooled off over the past few days, but this guy has been one of the best hitters around in the past few weeks. He’s currently on a 15 game hitting streak, with a wOBA of .504 during that span. If you go all the way back to the beginning of August, he’s hit an insane 20 home runs. There’s really no stopping this guy. Against a lefty in Daniel Norris, balls should be flying out of this park for Dozier. Dozier has smashed for .364 ISO against lefties on the year.

Also Consider:

Cesar Hernandez (PHI): $4,300
Javier Baez (CHC): $3,300

Third Base

Kelly Johnson (NYM): $3,000 @ WAS
I don’t have some secret algorithm up my sleeve here. I’m just utilizing Johnson here because of his salary. With DraftKings pricing, a $3,000 player has become the new low option. Johnson isn’t great, but does get a favorable matchup with Mat Latos. Johnson has also been serviceable against righties with a .305 wOBA this season.

Also Consider:

Anthony Rendon (WAS): $4,000
Martin Prado (MIA): $2,800

Shortstop

Tim Anderson (CWS): $3,000 vs CLE
Another salary saving option here is Anderson. He’s not in the best spot ever, considering the Tribe’s starting pitcher is Carlos Carrasco, who just happens to be the top priced pitcher on DraftKings. His overall numbers look good, but Carrasco has had a big up and down season this year. I’m not expecting much out of Anderson here, but for a guy hitting second, he does have some opportunity to collect minimal fantasy points here for that salary.

Also Consider:

Xander Bogaerts (BOS): $5,100
Jose Peraza (CIN): $4,100

Outfield

Mike Trout (LAA): $5,500 vs SEA
Against a weak lefty in Ariel Miranda, you have to like Trout here. Sure, Miranda has performed better recently, but still has that potential to get hit extremely hard. Miranda has also given up three home runs over his past two games. Trout can definitely hit with the best of them. Trout has hit .315 against lefties this year with five homers.

Chris Young (BOS): $4,400 vs BAL
Another lefty masher is definitely Young in this spot. I’ve highlighted earlier about Miley and his struggles recently, and Young should definitely be able to take advantage of that. In limited time, Young has hit .333 against lefties with three home runs in just 57 at-bats. He’s coming off an injury that made him miss most of the summer. Since his return, Young has a .398 wOBA with two home runs in 14 games.

Brandon Moss (STL): $3,000 vs CHC
Moss has been ice cold recently. I’m not even going to try and sugar coat you about his recent struggles. At the end of the day though, he still holds a .352 wOBA and a .309 ISO against righties on the year. At some point, his .030 batting average in September has to change. It could definitely come here against Kyle Hendricks. Hendricks has been great this year, but is allowing a .272 wOBA to lefties this year.

Also Consider:

Trea Turner (WAS): $5,400
Kris Bryant (CHC): $4,900
Matt Kemp (ATL): $4,700
Gregory Polanco (PIT): $4,600
Franklin Gutierrez (SEA): $3,700
Jason Heyward (CHC): $2,800
