Tim Anderson isn’t just slick in the field

As we continue down the final stretch of regular season baseball, we are smacked with a 10-game slate. It’s actually a very balanced slate which is good for all types of contests tonight.

Pitchers

Kyle Hendricks (CHC): $12,000 @ PIT
I will admit that I really also like Corey Kluber on this slate, but it’s difficult to fit Hendricks and Kluber in the same lineup. I chose Hendricks here, mainly because of the lineup and ballpark factors here. Hendricks hasn’t had any starts where he has allowed more than four runs. He only has allowed four earned runs twice on the season. Other than that, he’s allowed three runs or less. He’s currently on a streak of nine games where he’s allowed just two runs or less with a 6-1 record and 1.44 ERA in that span.

Sean Manaea (OAK): $7,700 @ LAA
I’m not going to sugar coat the fact that Manaea could get hit very hard by this righty-heavy Angels offense. Mike Trout and Albert Pujols are still dangerous options against lefties. At the same time, Manaea is priced nicely and still gets a favorable park factor here. Manaea is coming off back-to-back starts (11 innings pitched) where he’s allowed zero runs. He looks a lot better since coming back off an injury. The fact that he’s struck out 12 batters in those 11 innings has really impressed me.

Also Consider:

Corey Kluber (CLE): $13,500
Tanner Roark (WAS): $10,400
Bartolo Colon (NYM): $7,900

Catcher

Gary Sanchez (NYY): $4,600 @ TOR
I know J.A. Happ is actually a serviceable pitcher, but he can struggle giving up the long ball. Happ is allowing a 1.18 HR/9 to righties this year. Inside the Rogers Centre, Happ has looked good, posting a 3.05 ERA at home this year. However, this is still one of the better parks in the majors.

Also Consider:

Evan Gattis (HOU): $3,800
Wilson Contreras (CHC): $3,700

First Base

Adam Lind (SEA): $3,400 @ HOU
I feel like I always select Adam Lind. It’s not that he’s an overly great player, but he’s always cheap enough where he has to be in consideration. This game is away from Safeco, which should definitely benefit him. On the road this year, Lind has only five of his 20 home runs away from Safeco, but Minute Maid Park should benefit him. He still has a .209 ISO this season against righties. Collin McHugh has looked really good lately, but still is prone to allowing dingers, as evident by his 1.27 HR/9 this year.

Also Consider:

Anthony Rizzo (CHC): $5,400
Chris Carter (MIL): $4,500

Second Base

Logan Forsythe (TB): $4,000 @ CWS
Forsythe is clearly a more dominant hitter against lefties, but James Shields will be on the hill today for the White Sox. We’ve seen Shields’ blowup on multiple starts this year. He’s had two quality starts over his past three starts, but is coming off a six earned run performance. In that start, Shields gave up nine hits. Forsythe is 0-for-3 in his career against Shields, but it’s an extremely small sample size. I expect him to tee off on Shields here.

Also Consider:

Robinson Cano (SEA): $4,200
Chris Coghlan (CHC): $2,900

Third Base

Ryon Healy (OAK): $3,600 @ LAA
I know you probably have never played Healy, but you gotta give this kid a chance, especially against Jered Weaver. Healy has quietly put together a very nice season. The 24-year old is hitting over .300 with 12 home runs in just 60+ games. In the month of September, he has a robust .341 batting average with six homers. He clearly has started to figure out Major Leauge pitching. Weaver has a whopping 5.20 ERA on the year and is allowing a .369 wOBA to righties this year.

Also Consider:

Evan Longoria (TB): $4,800
Adrian Beltre (HOU): $4,200

Shortstop

Tim Anderson (CWS): $3,500 vs TB
For a top of the lineup guy, Anderson comes at a very nice price tag. He doesn’t have the best matchup against Drew Smyly, but he does have a .341 batting average against lefties on the season. Smyly has given up a bunch of homers on the year, but I really don’t see the small Anderson popping one out. He does have a lot of potential though to collect a couple of hits in this matchup.

Also Consider:

Aledmys Diaz (STL): $4,600
Danny Espinosa (WAS): $2,900

Outfield

Lonnie Chisenhall (CLE): $3,800 @ DET
Surprisingly, Chisenhall is the highest priced outfielder I have on this slate. They lefty gets a somewhat favorable matchup with Buck Farmer. Farmer hasn’t pitched since the 13th of September, so he will be well rested. Farmer has struggled against lefties, allowing a .388 wOBA on the year. Although Chisenhall doesn’t have huge power, he could take Farmer deep, considering Farmer is allowing a 2.25 HR/9 on the year. Chisenhall hasn’t had the best month but is still hitting .302 against righties on the year.

Stephen Piscotty (STL): $3,600 vs CIN
I was really shocked by many of the Cardinals’ prices on DraftKings today, and that includes Piscotty’s. In my opinion, Tim Adleman isn’t that great of a starting pitcher to really lower these Cards’ bats. However, Adleman is coming off a quality start in two of his last three outings. The issue is that if he doesn’t pitch deep, the Cards bats could see a lot of good at-bats against a weak Reds bullpen. Piscotty has struggled in September with a .244 batting average, but did hit a home run just two games ago. It looks like he’s starting to turn it around at the plate.

Danny Valencia (OAK): $3,500 @ LAA
Valencia is a much better hitter against lefties. However, against the aforementioned Weaver, Valencia could still do some damage against him. Valencia has hit .274 against righties on the year with ten home runs. 13 of his 17 home runs have all come away from O.co Colesium. He’s in a prime spot hitting near the top of the lineup.

Also Consider:

Trea Turner (WAS): $5,600
Melky Cabrera (CWS): $4,500
Khris Davis (OAK): $4,400
Nick Franklin (TB): $3,700
Shawn O’Malley (SEA): $2,600
