Pitcher

Drew Pomeranz (BOS): $8,700 @ TB
I am concerned about fatigue in regards to Pomeranz and his recent stretch of performances, but the discount is such that I’m willing to take a chance. While the Rays rank 10th in wRC+ against left-handed pitching, they do have a hefty strikeout rate (25.2%), which boosts Pomeranz’s stock. He also will get a good park shift in his favor, making him my top pitcher on the board tonight.

Other Notables

Catcher

Russell Martin (TOR): $3,000 vs. NYY
Bryan Mitchell has surrendered a ton of hard contact to right-handed hitters in a limited sample, and he has an xFIP pushing five. A strong supporting cast surrounds Martin, and he will have the benefit of hitting at home, making him a decent midrange play tonight.

Other Notables

  • Gary Sanchez (NYY): $4,400 @ TOR (GPP)
  • Buster Posey (SF): $4,100 vs. @ SD (GPP)
  • Travis d’Arnaud (NYM): $2,100 vs. PHI

First Base

Chris Davis (BAL): $3,600 vs. ARI
Davis checks in as my top overall hitter tonight, as he will hold the platoon advantage over Shelby Miller at home. Miller has been bad this season, but he’s been downright awful against lefties, allowing a .420 wOBA. He’s also backed up by a weak bullpen, so Davis is looking at favorable matchups throughout the game. Davis has gone six games without a homer, but I like him to change that tonight.

Other Notables

Second Base

Dee Gordon (MIA): $2,500 vs. ATL
While Matt Wisler has shown some better stuff at times this season, he’s still been vulnerable to lefties. The Braves also struggle to control the running game, which makes Gordon a strong value at this price. There aren’t many other values at second base, so if you aren’t spending up, it makes sense to target Gordon.

Other Notables

Third Base

Jake Lamb (ARI): $2,900 @ BAL
Lamb is hitless over his last 17 at bats, but his price tag is still too low. Yovani Gallardo has allowed a .356 wOBA to lefties this season, and he has an overall xFIP of 5.27. This is a great park for left-handed hitters, so look to Lamb as a great source of value tonight.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Carlos Correa (HOU): $3,700 vs. LAA
Correa and the Astros will be facing a rookie in Alex Meyer, who has struggled in his short time at the major league level. The Astros have a team run total of around five, and with a lack of other options, it makes sense to lock Correa into your lineups.

 Other Notables

Outfielders

Jose Bautista (TOR): $3,900 vs. NYY
Bautista should hit cleanup for the Blue Jays, with several run-producing opportunities likely awaiting him. Bryan Mitchell is likely due for a serious bout of regression, as his 6.3% HR/FB rate doesn’t mesh with a 20% hard minus soft hit rate. The Blue Jays have an implied run total of 5.51, which suggests a big game could be looming.

Yoenis Cespedes (NYM): $3,500 vs. PHI
Jeremy Hellickson has been fairly tough on right-handed hitters this season, but he’s been susceptible to power (1.14 HR/9), which is exactly what we are targeting with Cespedes. The price tag is fair given his power upside, and despite not homering over his last 10 games, he’s a good bet for one tonight.

Hyun-Soo Kim (BAL): $2,700 vs. ARI
Kim has been a bit cold lately, but a date at home with Shelby Miller could help to cure what ails him. The Orioles have an implied team total pushing six, and Kim is an excellent way to get exposure to this offense without breaking the bank.
