Friday is finally here! We have a 14 game schedule to work with as we enter the final weekend September. There aren’t many games left in the regular season, so be sure to get your fix while you can. Let’s take a look at some value plays for FanDuel.

Pitcher
Matt Wisler (ATL): $6,600 @ MIA
Wisler has been incredibly inconsistent, but when he’s been good, he’s a viable tournament play. It’s tough to predict which pitcher will show up, but I do now that he will be in a good park for pitching, and he should get some run support from his offense. This incredibly risky, but you can see the volatility is worth targeting as you look at his last five starts (worst start: -5 fantasy points; best start: 57 fantasy points).
Other Notables
- Jon Gray (LAD): $8,400 @ LAD
- James Paxton (SEA): $7,300 @ MIN
- Jameson Taillon (PIT): $7,200 vs. WAS
Catcher
Russell Martin (TOR): $3,000 vs. NYY
Bryan Mitchell has surrendered a ton of hard contact to right-handed hitters in a limited sample, and he has an xFIP pushing five. A strong supporting cast surrounds Martin, and he will have the benefit of hitting at home, making him a decent midrange play tonight.
Other Notables
- Travis d’Arnaud (NYM): $2,100 vs. PHI
First Base
Billy Butler (NYY): $2,600 @ TOR
Butler could be a solid value target if he draws a start on the road against lefty Francisco Liriano. Liriano has struggled with right-handed hitters, allowing a .349 wOBA and 1.62 HR/9. Butler has good skills against left-handed pitching, and he will be in a great park for power in Toronto.
Other Notables
- Eric Hosmer (KC): $3,300 @ DET
- Lucas Duda (NYM): $2,200 vs. PHI (if he plays)
Second Base
Dee Gordon (MIA): $2,500 vs. ATL
While Matt Wisler has shown some better stuff at times this season, he’s still been vulnerable to lefties. The Braves also struggle to control the running game, which makes Gordon a strong value at this price. There aren’t many other values at second base, so if you aren’t spending up, it makes sense to target Gordon.
Other Notables
- Any punt
Third Base
Jake Lamb (ARI): $2,900 @ BAL
Lamb is hitless over his last 17 at bats, but his price tag is still too low. Yovani Gallardo has allowed a .356 wOBA to lefties this season, and he has an overall xFIP of 5.27. This is a great park for left-handed hitters, so look to Lamb as a great source of value tonight.
Other Notables
- Maikel Franco (PHI): $2,500 @ NYM
Shortstop
Francisco Lindor (CLE): $3,200 vs. CWS
There aren’t a lot of cheap options at shortstop right now, so I don’t mind targeting Lindor, who has a depressed salary due to a recent rough patch. Lindor will draw a favorable matchup against Miguel Gonzalez, and with Lindor hitting in the heart of the order, he should see plenty of chances to produce.
Other Notables
- Marcus Semien (OAK): $3,000 vs. TEX
Outfielders
Miguel Sano (MIN): $3,100 vs. SEA
Sano will hold the platoon advantage over James Paxton, who has been skating on thin ice in regards to hard contact Paxton is allowing a nearly a 20% hard minus soft contact rate, yet he’s surrendered just 0.70 HR/9 to right-handed hitters. Sano can provide nice pop, which makes him a fine midrange value across the board tonight.
Hyun-Soo Kim (BAL): $2,700 vs. ARI
Kim has been a bit cold lately, but a date at home with Shelby Miller could help to cure what ails him. The Orioles have an implied team total pushing six, and Kim is an excellent way to get exposure to this offense without breaking the bank.
Adam Duvall (CIN): $2,400 @ MIL
If you’re looking for a tournament filler, Duvall is a cheap source of power is a good hitting environment. While he won’t hold the platoon advantage over Zach Davies, he’s always a threat to hit a homer, which is exactly what you’re chasing here at near minimum salary.
Other Notables
- Curtis Granderson (NYM): $3,300 vs. PHI
- Starling Marte (PIT): $3,000 vs. WAS
- Jarrod Dyson (KC): $2,900 @ DET
- Yasmany Tomas (ARI): $2,700 @ BAL
- Roman Quinn (PHI): $2,700 @ NYM
