Fantasy Baseball Daily Update: Tuesday (9/13)
Kyle Hendricks

Kyle Hendricks carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning on Monday

The playoffs are still fresh on the mind of fantasy owners and MLB teams alike, with the fantasy playoffs beginning and the MLB playoff race heating up. The wild card races in each league are very tight, added with the overall competitiveness of the AL East, but the playoff race took a back seat to a great pitching performance in St. Louis. A near no-hitter by the Chicago Cubs will open this daily update for September 13, 2016.

Hazelbaker’s home run, Yadier Molina’s walk, and Jedd Gyorko’s walk were the only blemishes to Hendricks’ record while Mike Leake (9-10) allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings for St. Louis.

Red Sox club Orioles

Norris only earned a no-decision, but lowered his ERA to 3.81 ERA while Ian Kinsler had a home run and two RBI and Victor Martinez was 2-for-4 with a double for Detroit. Brian Dozier set the AL 2B record for home runs a season with his 40th home run while Kurt Suzuki also had a home run and Ervin Santana allowed one run on three hits in five innings for Minnesota.

Rangers win behind late-inning home run
Rougned Odor hit a 12th inning home run to lead the Rangers over the Astros 4-3 on Monday. Odor finished 3-for-4 with a walk, double, home run, and three RBI while Jonathan Lucroy and Ian Desmond each had two hits and Carlos Beltran drove in a run for Texas. Evan Gattis hit a ninth inning home run off of Sam Dyson to send the game to extra inning while Yulieski Gurriel had two hits and Carlos Correa walked twice and scored a run for Houston.

What to Watch For

An AL East matchup of playoff contenders will be the top matchup of Monday with Dylan Bundy and the Orioles facing David Price and the Red Sox. Bundy has allowed five earned runs in three of his last five starts, but has also allowed two runs or fewer in six of his last 10 starts. Price has won each of his last six starts, registering seven consecutive quality starts, and has pitched at least seven innings in six of his last 10 starts. Noah Syndergaard, Danny Duffy, and Jason Hammel will also pitch today.
