FanDuel NHL Lineup Advice: Tuesday (11/22)
Carey Price

Carey Price will be hard to fade for Tuesday’s cash games

Hello to all my FantasyPros friends. Allow me to wish you an early happy and safe Thanksgiving. The NHL has been doing us a solid this week, as they have had two great nights of action back-to-back. Last night we had a great seven-game slate, and tonight we get five games. I am here to help you create a FanDuel cash game line up. The lineup I am posting will be a lineup I have in most of my 50/50 and double up cash games. And for the Thanksgiving Holiday, I will add a little tidbit to offer you a bit of a boost in your NHL DFS lineups on FanDuel. With that said, let’s create an odd man rush and build our bankroll.

Center

Ryan Kesler (ANH): $6,700 vs New York Islanders
What I love about Kesler is his ability to get in the dirty places on the ice and score from anywhere. Kesler has four goals in his last five games, with one of those goals coming on the power play. He has moved up and down the lineup this season and is slated as the second line center. In nine home games this season Kesler has five goals and three assists, and I see him adding a goal and an assist tonight with six shots on net.

Tomas Plekanec (MON): $5,100 vs Ottawa
Most people will not consider the Canadians second line this game, but I will be all over them. One thing that is very glaring with the Canadians is that they average over three goals a game and Ottawa gives up over two and a half a game. Plekanec has been silent the last few games, but he and his line will score all the goals tonight. I will be all over him in cash games as it is a cap saver and also provides huge upside.

Wing

Jakob Silfverberg (ANH): $5,600 vs New York Islanders
I am using Silfverberg to pair with Kesler as they are linemates and the fact that Jakob has three goals and five assists in his last five games. The kid is on fire, and people are not using him. He has been around 10% or lower in the last five cash games I have had him in. He has huge upside, and pairing with Kesler will up your exposure to a top-notch line.

Mitch Marner (TOR): $5,800 vs Carolina
What can I say about Marner that has not already been said? In 18 games he has seven goals and nine assists and averages five shots on goal per game. I love his gameplay and his line in this game. I don’t think the Hurricanes can handle the Leafs. Look for Marner to score a goal and get an assist and also register four shots on net. I look for Toronto to score five goals in this game. Think about that if you are doing GPP lineups as well.

James van Riemsdyk (TOR): $7,300 vs Carolina
Right now, the combo of van Riemsdyk – Bozak – Marner, are the top combo in the NHL. Carolina is one of the worst teams in the NHL in defending the Wing position, and we are using that to our advantage in our cash lineup. With four goals and three assists in his last five, van Riemsdyk is a great safe play that will hit 4x value.

Brendan Gallagher (MON): $5,500 vs Ottawa
First off, I have no clue why Gallagher is still on the second line, but hey, it works to our advantage. Pairing him with Plekanec gives us a huge advantage in this game. Gallagher is averaging right at four shots per game this season. He will factor into three of the six goals the Canadians will score this night. He should have a goal and two assists in this game and a team-high six shots on net.

Defensemen

Radko Gudas (PHI): $4,200 @ Florida
Gudas is a great value play at defense and has a ton of upside. He is averaging 13.76 fantasy points per game in his last five, and he should easily hit that by the second period of this game. I see him scoring over 24 points tonight, giving us a nice 6x value.

Cam Fowler (ANA): $4,500 vs New York Islanders
I do not understand why his price is so low, but let’s take advantage of it until FanDuel figures out he is worth a lot more. I am using him to have a small mini stack with Anaheim and due to the fact that he has power play upside. Fowler averages over 21 minutes of ice time per game and has no problem blocking shots. I can see him getting you close to 19 fantasy points tonight. You can thank me later.

Goalie

Carey Price (MON): $10,200 vs Ottawa
I know right, Price with all the offensive upside we have. Price has yet to lose in regulation this season, but he does have one OT loss. The Canadians give up less than two goals a game and are tops in the NHL in that category. Price is 17-7-4 lifetime against the Sens, and three of his wins came by way of the shutout. I am going to use him knowing he has a great chance to get the shutout.

Cappy’s Tid Bit

I promised you a little tidbit at the end of this article, so here it is. I am going to tell you the best way to build a cash game lineup for the 5x (Quintuple up) on FanDuel. This is the way I build mine, and I have hit 90% of my 5x entries this way.

  • Use one (1) full line stack to start off. Like a GPP, but you will want a first or second line, full line stack. C-W-W.
  • Use an above mid-tier goalie. Do not get funky and try to use a GPP-only goalie. You want the goalie that has a good chance at a win, but one that does not cost you what someone like a Price costs you. You will need the cap relief to build your top line.
  • Your next pairing should be a Center and a Wing on the same line. I try to target mainly a team’s second line or third line (if that line has been hot) when I do this. Check the Vegas line and look for a game that has a 5.5 over/under with betting heading towards the over. This has helped me more often than not.
  • Pair a wing and defensive player that are on the power play together. I try not to target a team’s second team power play unit, but it all depends on cap space. A lot of the time that wing and defensive player are also on the ice together at even strength.
  • Look for a low-cost ($3,100 – $4,400) stand-alone defensive player. If you see a player you really like, check that team’s lines and see if he gets power play exposure. Then you will want to check to see if the team they are playing is bad at the penalty kill. If that seems a bit cumbersome, I also love to target shot blockers. Some defensive shot blockers can outscore offensive players. Remember a blocked shot is worth 1.6 points on FanDuel, and if they block four shots and take two shots, they will always hit 4x their value.

That is my little tidbit of info. I love teaching people how to build lineups for NHL DFS, as my philosophy is that I am not playing you, I am playing to take money from FanDuel. Follow me on Twitter and ask questions, I don’t mind helping where I can. I also offer one-on-one training. You can contact me about that also.
