Colin Kaepernick continues to produce for fantasy owners

With more and more fantasy owners opting to wait on the quarterback and tight end positions in drafts, streaming each position has become a viable option. This is made easier by the fact that there are usually solid options on the waiver wire. Each week this column will scour the waiver wire and look for quarterbacks and tight ends who are owned in fewer than 50% of leagues and could be worth starting for your fantasy team.

Quarterback

Colin Kaepernick (SF): 24% owned @ Chicago Bears
The fantasy community has been slow to trust Kaepernick, but he’s actually graduated from streamer status into a quarterback worthy of a permanent roster spot on your fantasy squad. He’s coming off his best performance of the season, rolling up 296 passing yards and three touchdowns while adding 113 rushing yards. Hopefully, you streamed him for that matchup and if you did you are set up with another plum matchup against the Bears this week. Chicago’s defense has been better than expected this season, but Kaepernick’s skills on the ground give him a high weekly floor while the fast-paced Chip Kelly offense is fantasy gold for all offensive players involved.

Carson Wentz (PHI): 37% owned @ Cincinnati Bengals
Wentz has been a steady fantasy producer this season, even though he lacks the high weekly ceiling of Kaepernick. If Kaepernick is already owned in your league, however, Wentz can be used in what shapes up as a prime matchup against the Bengals. Cincinnati’s pass defense has been struggling mightily this season, ranking just 20th in DVOA according to Football Outsiders (before Week 12) and allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. The Eagles have been trending more pass-heavy over the past few weeks with Wentz attempting 43 or more passes in three of his past four contests.

Tight End

C.J. Fiedorowicz (HOU): 35% owned @ Green Bay Packers
Fiedorowicz draws one of the top matchups in the league for tight ends as he gets set to take on a leaky Packers pass defense. Green Bay has really struggled in coverage against tight ends this season, allowing 9.7 fantasy points per game to the position, sixth-highest in the league. Fiedorowicz has earned a solid role in the Houston pass offense, falling below six targets just once since Week 5. He should be a solid streaming option in Week 13.

Lance Kendricks (LA): 15% owned @ New England Patriots
Everyone has been burned by Kendricks at least once (most recently in Week 10 when he put up one catch against the Jets), but he has played well over the past two weeks with rookie Jared Goff under center. He has seen seven targets in each of those two games, catching a combined eight passes for 89 yards and a touchdown. His matchup against the Patriots is a nice one as New England’s pass defense ranks just 29th in the league in DVOA against tight ends. The Rams will likely be forced to throw early and often to keep up with an explosive Patriots offense, meaning Kendricks should see plenty of chances in the passing game.
