Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 15

Dec 13, 2016

Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick is difficult to trust despite a solid Week 15 matchup

With more and more fantasy owners opting to wait on the quarterback and tight end positions in drafts, streaming each position has become a viable option. This is made easier by the fact that there are usually solid options on the waiver wire. Each week this column will scour the waiver wire and look for quarterbacks and tight ends who are owned in fewer than 50% of leagues and could be worth starting for your fantasy team.

All ownership percentages come from Yahoo fantasy leagues and all references to fantasy points allowed per game come from our fantasy points allowed (PA) reports here on Fantasy Pros. All references to DVOA (Defense-Adjusted Value Over Average) come from rankings on A detailed explanation of DVOA can be found here.

Joe Flacco (BAL): 25% ownership vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Flacco’s string of late-season plus matchups continues as he gets set to take on a Philadelphia pass defense that has been struggling against opposing quarterbacks lately. Philadelphia has allowed multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games as their secondary has begun to show cracks. Flacco shapes up as a solid option who should have a safe floor in a week that is tough for streaming quarterbacks. If you find yourself favored in your playoff matchup this weekend and need a safe option to stream at quarterback, Flacco is your man.

Colin Kaepernick (SF): 36% ownership @ Atlanta Falcons
If Flacco is your safer streaming option, Kaepernick is your boom/bust option and should only be streamed in playoff matchups where you perceive yourself as the underdog. Kaepernick showed us his extremely high ceiling back in Week 12 against the Dolphins where he threw three touchdowns and also rushed for over 100 yards. In his two games since, he’s shown us his floor with a horrible outing against the Bears and an average one against the Jets in Week 14. His matchup against Atlanta’s pass defense isn’t imposing at all, but Kaep is definitely a streamer who carries risk.

Tight Ends

Charles Clay (BUF): 10% ownership vs. Cleveland Browns
Clay is coming off one of his best games in months as he caught three passes for 52 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers in Week 14. While Clay doesn’t offer a ton in the way of upside, he pulls perhaps the best matchup for tight ends in fantasy in Week 15. The Browns have been decimated by tight ends this season, allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to the position through Week 13. They could climb higher on that list after allowing Tyler Eifert to score twice this past Sunday. Clay is in an excellent spot in Week 15.

Jermaine Gresham (ARI): 4% ownership vs. New Orleans Saints
Gresham has surprisingly become a main part of the Arizona pass offense. Partially due to injuries to John Brown and Michael Floyd and partially due to Carson Palmer‘s deteriorating play, Gresham has been a busy man over his past four games. In that span, Gresham has caught 17-of-25 targets for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He pulls a good matchup against a Saints pass defense that ranks just 24th in the league in DVOA against tight ends.
