DraftKings NHL Lineup Advice: Saturday (1/14)
Brent Burns

Brent Burns is hard to fade in cash games considering his impressive play

There are 10 games scheduled for Saturday night’s main slate. I have been on a nice stretch winning in cash games and double-ups the last two weeks but strayed from my game plan a couple times by trying to be too analytical with my goalie selection. The two times my lineups did not cash were due to one goal differences in games costing me the valuable four points for a goalie win. Tonight my lineup is built around two players, the incredible Brent Burns and a top goalie selection. The way Burns is playing he is almost a must-play in cash games, but his price tag does pose a problem. With 10 games tonight there are plenty of value plays in good matchups that have a chance to produce.

Here are tonight’s likely goalies with high win probabilities in order of Vegas Line favorite

Here are the teams that should put up some goals tonight when selecting skaters for your lineups.

  • Pittsburgh Penguins
  • Minnesota Wild
  • Anaheim Ducks
  • Edmonton Oilers
  • Los Angeles Kings
  • San Jose Sharks

My cash game lineup for tonight.

Center

Derick Brassard (OTT): $4,900 vs. TOR
Brassard has had a nice stretch putting up 13 fantasy points in the last three games against pretty good opponents in Pittsburgh, Edmonton, and Washington. He has three assists, 11 shots on goal and three blocks in that three-game span. He should see close to 20 minutes tonight against Toronto at home in a big rivalry game.

Anze Kopitar (LA): $5,300 vs. WPG
Kopitar will be centering the top line for Los Angeles tonight who is a heavy favorite against Winnipeg. In his last three games, Kopitar has produced a goal and three assists for a total of 10 fantasy points. He has not met expectations with only four goals this season after scoring 25 last year, but he is in a good spot tonight to help contribute to my cash lineup tonight against a Winnipeg team struggling to stop goals.

Wing

Mikkel Boedker (SJ): $3,800 vs. STL
This selection is a bit of a heat check, but with four goals and an assist in his last three games he is worth a shot as a value play. In the game that he did not score he still managed to fire five shots on goal.

Andrew Cogliano (ANA): $4,900 @ ARI
The Ducks line of Cogliano, Ryan Kesler, and Jakob Silfverberg has been one of the hottest lately. Any of the trio make for a great play tonight against a struggling Arizona team. Cogliano has a goal and an assist with 13 shots on goal in his last two games for a total of 11.5 fantasy points.

Marian Gaborik (LA): $4,200 vs. WPG
Gaborik is also on the disappointment list along with Kopitar, but they will both be on the top line versus Winnipeg tonight in a good matchup. He only has two goals and five assists in 20 games played this season but has produced 10 fantasy points in his last three games.

Defense

Brent Burns (SJ): $8,200 vs. STL
Burns has been unbelievable this season and currently sits fifth in the NHL scoring race with 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points. He has been on a roll lately with two goals and seven assists in his last four games for a whopping total of 30.5 fantasy points. In each of his last four games, he has produced at least 7.5 fantasy points. He will once again play close to 30 minutes in a good matchup at home against the St. Louis Blues who are a dreadful 5-11-1 on the road this season.

Drew Doughty (LA): $5,400 vs. WPG
Doughty has had a nice three-game stretch scoring a goal with four assists and a total of 17 fantasy points in that span. He has a total of seven shots on goal and three blocked shots and should be in a favorable position tonight to put up some fantasy points in all categories, playing close to 30 minutes in a good matchup.

Goalie

John Gibson (ANA): $8,100 @ ARI
He has won five of his last six starts and allowed just eight goals in that span including a shutout of Dallas. I am not going to overthink this. He has a good matchup against an Arizona team that is 29th in goals scored this season and has already begun to think about the NHL draft lottery after going just 2-7-1 in their last 10 games.

Utility

Mikko Koivu (MIN): $5,200 @ DAL
Koivu fits nicely in the final spot of my cash lineup for tonight. Minnesota is coming off a seven-goal performance against Montreal and will now head to Dallas who has allowed the sixth most goals this season. Koivu has three goals and two assists in his last four games for a total of 19.5 fantasy points.

Make sure to double check lineups and particularly the starting goalies prior to the first puck drop as they can be subject to change.
