Point Guard

Damian Lillard (POR): $8,400 @ PHI
Since his return from injury, Lillard has yet to post one of his monster 50-plus Fanduel point games, so tonight I’m going to play the “he is due card” for this game. The Sixers are middle of the road in points allowed to opposing point guards, but Lillard is the type of point guard in which matchups don’t really matter. He is averaging close to 40 FanDuel points over his last three games and I think it’s time for a big game from him.

Malcolm Brogdon (MIL): $5,400 @ ORL
The Orlando Magic are bottom six in points allowed to opposing point guards over the last four weeks, and I don’t see that trend changing anytime soon. Brogdon has been pushing Matthew Dellavedova for the starting point guard spot for awhile and it looks like he has finally taken the job. Despite a healthy Dellavedova, Brogdon has logged nearly 30 minutes per game over his last 10 games and should easily get to that number again tonight. He needs just over 25 Fanduel points to return value, a number he has hit six times over his last eight games.

Shooting Guard

DeMar DeRozan (TOR): $9,300 @ CHA
I’m fading all the 10k-plus guys tonight. The closest I come to 10k is DeRozan and it’s purely based on the matchup. The Hornets are dead last in points allowed to opposing shooting guards over the last four weeks, and while some of that can be attributed to Nicolas Batum being out of the lineup, they aren’t much better on the year either. Over his last four games against the Hornets, only one time did he have less than 45 Fanduel points and that’s what I’m expecting from him again tonight, 45-to-50 FanDuel points.

C.J. McCollum (POR): $8,100 @ PHI
I think this game will be a high-scoring affair with both teams playing at a fairly high pace and both lacking on defense. Lillard and McCollum have yet to really show why they are the second best backcourt duo in the league last year, and while they have both had flashes, most were individual performances. That will change tonight. McCollum dropped 44 FanDuel points on the Sixers in their previous meeting dating back to last season. I’m looking for a similar performance tonight.

Small Forward

Aaron Gordon (ORL): $5,000 vs MIL
Gordon has alternated bad games with good games over his last seven games, and if that trend held he would be due a for a bad game in this one. So why did I take him? Because only the Nets are worse than the Bucks in points allowed to opposing small forwards and they are giving up an average of 41.64 FanDuel points per game on the year. For the first time in seven games, Gordon will have back to back 30-plus FanDuel point games.

Brandon Ingram (LAL): $4,200 vs IND
This pick is dependent on the status of Luol Deng. If Deng misses this game, then expect Ingram to draw another start. In his last start three night ago Ingram logged a whopping 37 minutes and put up 33 FanDuel points. Tonight he gets a great matchup with the Pacers, a team that ranks bottom six in points allowed to small forwards.

Power Forward

Thaddeus Young (IND): $5,400 @ LAL
Young always seems to show up to play the Lakers. In fact, his 32.6 FanDuel point average over the last two years against L.A. is his highest average against any team over that same span. Only the Rockets are worse than the Lakers in points allowed to opposing power forwards, and they struggle to rebound as well, a place that Young excels.

Trevor Booker (BRK): $5,400 @ NO
The Pels are bottom five in the league in points allowed to opposing power forwards, which is surprising given the presence of Anthony Davis. The Pels give up, on average, 44.62 FanDuel points to the position and give up more rebounds to power forwards than any other team in the league.

Center

Joel Embiid (PHI): $8,400 vs POR
As I’ve already stated, this game should be fairly high-paced with tons of scoring. Embiid will have ample opportunities to grab rebounds and put up points. He should have plenty of chances to collect some block shots as well as both Lillard and McCollum like to drive the paint. His price tag isn’t as attractive as it used to be, but in this great matchup, I’m willing to pay the price.
