FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Friday (1/27)
Robert Covington

Robert Covington has a great matchup against the Rockets on Friday

Rajon Rondo did not make the Friday FanDuel NBA value plays list. You will not find his best friends and teammates, Jimmy Butler or Dwyane Wade, on this list either. There are no Eastern Conference or Western Conference All-Star reserves on the list, and certainly no All-Star starters, for that matter.

If you want to construct a competitive lineup for Friday night’s action, it would be wise to include an All-Star or two like Jimmy Butler ($9,800 salary) in your FanDuel lineup, but in order to make room for his large salary, you’ll need to find value elsewhere.

Here is a list of low-salary players that you should consider for your FanDuel lineup for the Friday night slate.

Turn $44 into $75,000 in FanDuel’s NBA Enormous Slam partner-arrow

Point Guard

Patty Mills (SA): $4,000 at NO
With Tony Parker out the last few games, Mills has stepped up and performed brilliantly. He scored 20 points against Brooklyn on Tuesday and 18 against the Raptors the following night. Both matchups were fairly easy for the Spurs, and the same can be said about the upcoming matchup against the Pelicans. New Orleans is among the worst teams in the NBA at defending point guards. Kyrie Irving scorched them for 49 on Monday and Russell Westbrook went for another triple-double on Wednesday. Granted, Mills does not compare to those two superstars, but he should at least continue with another strong performance on Friday night, especially if Parker does not return or is limited.

Shooting Guard

Dion Waiters (MIA): $6,200 at CHI
The Miami Heat have won five straight games, and Waiters is a big reason why. He is absolutely on fire. Over his last three contests, Waiters has averaged 30.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. After missing all of December due to injury, Waiters is starting to fill up the stat sheet again. The Heat are a bit banged up as they travel to Chicago to face the dysfunctional Bulls on Friday. With Tyler Johnson not expected to play and Hassan Whiteside possibly out, Waiters will continue to see a healthy amount of minutes and usage.

Small Forward

Robert Covington (PHI): $5,600 vs. HOU
The 76ers are a team on the rise and they will likely elevate their game for the home crowd against one of the league’s best teams. Over their last seven games, the Houston Rockets have been the worst in the league at defending small forwards. Covington has averaged 12.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over his last 10 games. In a game likely to be played at an elevated pace, this matchup is one you should exploit.

Power Forward

David Lee (SA): $5,700 vs. NO
Lee has seen an uptick in minutes and production since Pau Gasol went down with a hand injury. In four games, Lee has two double-doubles and has eclipsed double-digit points all four times. The Pelicans struggle to defend the power forward position. Over the last seven games only the Brooklyn Nets are worse. Lee should benefit from a great matchup and higher usage due to the injury predicament the Spurs are currently facing.

Center

Clint Capela (HOU): $4,800 vs. PHI
Capela missed nearly a month due to injury, but he appears to be back to 100 percent. In his last two starts, Capela played more than 20 minutes in both games and averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game. The Rockets face the Sixers who have struggled against centers lately. DeAndre Jordan grabbed 20 rebounds against them on Tuesday, and Greg Monroe scorched them for 28 points on Wednesday. The Sixers were without Joel Embiid in both games, and he may be back for Friday’s contest, but he may not be enough to stop Capela from earning solid fantasy value at his current price.
