Conor Sheary

Conor Sheary

I want to take this Teuvo Teravainen assist on a date.

Ownership totals are in ESPN leagues as of Wednesday Morning.

Mika Zibanejad (C – NYR): 45.8%
Zibanejad was having himself a little bit of a breakout season before his injury – 15 points in 20 games, on pace for the first 60 point season of his career. Good news! Zibanejad has wasted no time getting back on track, potting two goals in his return at the MSG center. Slotting next to the still solid Rick Nash and Pavel Buchnevich (see below), Zibanejad will continue to shine as the top Rangers pivot.

Pavel Buchnevich (LW – NYR): 14.3%
Two-for-one on Rangers forwards! Buchnevich has also recently returned from injury and in his three games back has already put up five points. Granted he’s only played 13 games this season, but when you are carrying a point-per-game average over that stretch of time, it warrants some notice. The Rangers also haven’t been shy about upping his ice time and power play usage.

Conor Sheary (LW – PIT): 38.2%
Uh, did you guys know Sheary has 28 points in 36 games? That seems like a lot for him, right? I mean, he only put up 10 in 44 games last year. Oh right, he’s playing with best-player-in-the-league Sidney Crosby a lot. Yeah, that’ll do it. Not sure what else needs to be said here. He also gets consistent power play time?

Thomas Vanek (LW – DET): 54.1%
I feel like people really soured on Vanek over the last few years. Sure, he hasn’t been consistently putting up 60+ points a season like his Sabres days, but he was still solidly contributing. This season? Hoo boy – 30 points in 33 games and a +6 on a really disappointing Red Wings team. If he continues playing like this, he might get himself traded to a contender, further cementing his high fantasy value this season.

Mattias Ekholm (D – NSH): 43.3%
If you are in need of a depth defenseman, look no further. With PK Subban still on the shelf, Ekholm has seen increased responsibility and power play time. For his part, Ekholm just continues to produce at a steady rate – eight points in his last fourteen games with a +7. After Subban returns, Ekholm’s value may drop a tad, but he’s never failed to feature in Nashville’s plans, even when they are full-strength.
