FanDuel NBA Lineup Advice: Monday (2/6)

<a href=

It’s a busy night in the NBA on Monday, with 11 games on the schedule. Should be an interesting ball night with over two-thirds of the league in play. Below is my FanDuel lineup for the evening.

Point Guard

John Wall (WAS): $10,600 vs. CLE
Wall has been playing the best basketball of his career—as he is currently averaging career-highs in points, assists, and steals. He comes into Monday’s matchup versus the Cavs having recorded four straight double-doubles and is averaging 21.8 points and 13.0 assists in the Wizards’ past five games (47.38 FanDuel points). The Wizards have rolled off 17 consecutive wins at home and Wall is a big reason why, during the streak Wall has averaged 23.6 points, 11.2 assists, and 4.5 rebounds. Wall will be playing with something to prove on Monday against the East’s best team and should be worth the price tag.

Michael Carter-Williams (CHI): $4,700 vs. SAC
MCW saw added minutes on Friday with Jimmy Butler out and delivered a strong game with 23 points, nine rebounds, and six assists (43.8 FanDuel points). Even if Butler returns, Carter-Williams should have done enough to garner more playing time. The Bulls have had a tough time getting solid play from point guard all season. Perhaps it’s MCW’s time to get an extended look at the position.

Shooting Guard

Lou Williams (LAL): $6,300 vs. NY
In five of the past six games Williams has scored over 20 points for the Lakers, as he continues to provide good offense off the bench. Over his past nine games the veteran Williams has averaged 33.0 FanDuel points per game and has gone over 30 FanDuel points in six of those nine games. Look for Williams to continue that trend against a below-average Knicks defense.

Seth Curry (DAL): $6,000 vs. DEN
Curry gets an enticing matchup on Monday versus Denver. The Nuggets have surrendered 41.3 FanDuel points per game to shooting guards in their past 10 games. Curry appears to be in the midst of his best stretch of basketball this season. In the past five games Curry has averaged 18.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists—all of which are much higher than his season average. With the plus matchup on Monday there is no reason Curry cannot keep that momentum going.

Small Forward

Marcus Morris (DET): $5,500 vs. PHI
There’s value here with Morris, as he is coming off back-to-back good performance. Morris has gone over 35 FanDuel points in two straight games and has averaged 28.0 FanDuel points per game in his past eight. The matchup against a struggling Sixers defense bodes well for the 27-year-old forward. He should be able to keep his recent average going.

Joe Johnson (UTA): $3,700 vs. ATL
Bit of a gamble here, but Johnson is coming off two games over 27 FanDuel points, averaging 16 points, six rebounds, and 4.5 assists in those games. The 15-year veteran has seen an increase in playing time with Rodney Hood out (knee contusion) and should continue to get added minutes so long as Hood is inactive. Keep an eye on Hood’s status, but assuming he sits Johnson should continue his recent successes.

Power Forward

Ersan Ilyasova (PHI): $6,100 vs. DET
Ilyasova has averaged 20 points and 7.6 rebounds in his past five games, good for 31.82 FanDuel points per game. With Joel Embiid not traveling with the team, the Turkish veteran will need to carry a bigger workload in order for the Sixers to play well. He has been relied on offensively of late and has a reasonable price tag on FanDuel.

James Johnson (MIA): $6,100 vs. MIN
In his past five games Johnson has averaged 13.4 points, six rebounds, and five assists (32.66 FanDuel points). He has carved out a consistent role for himself with the red-hot Heat and gets a matchup versus the Timberwolves, who have surrendered the third-most points to power forwards in their past 10 games. Look for Johnson to take advantage of the subpar defense Monday night.

Center

DeMarcus Cousins (SAC): $11,000 vs. CHI
Boogie has been rolling of late, having gone over 55 FanDuel points in four of his past five contests. In that timeframe he has averaged 30.2 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 7 assists (54.86 FanDuel points). He has been more aggressive since Rudy Gay went down with a season-ending injury. On Monday the Kings face the Bulls, who Cousins torched for 67.3 FanDuel points on January 21st (42 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks)—there is no reason why Cousins cannot experience similar success Monday night.
