FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Friday (2/24)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Friday (2/24)

Navigating the post trade deadline waters in DFS can be challenging, if not downright scary. The DeMarcus Cousins trade really set the tone for the market on Sunday night. And once the dust settled on that deal, all the remaining pieces slowly fell into place over the course of the week.

It’s easy to count on reliable stars like Russell Westbrook ($12,700 on FanDuel) and Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,400) to produce mega FanDuel points in their Friday night matchups. It’s another thing to figure out where to find value, especially with a lot faces in new places. But in order to put together a winning FanDuel lineup, finding value is key.

Below are some value plays to consider for Friday night’s FanDuel main slate.

Turn $40 into $100,000 in FanDuel’s NBA Enormous Slam partner-arrow

Point Guard

Jameer Nelson (DEN): $5,600 vs. BKN
One thing that’s clear in Denver is Nelson will be the starting point guard for the Nuggets for the time being, and that’s even with Emmanuel Mudiay back in the fold. Nelson is only averaging 9.1 points and 5.0 assists per game, but with starter minutes he should see more production. Nelson registered 34.8 FanDuel points as the starter in Thursday night’s contest against the Kings. Another thing that’s clear, and this was the case even before the trade deadline, the Nets are horrible defensively as a team, especially against point guards. All signs point to a big night from Nelson against the Nets.

Shooting Guard

Caris LeVert (BKN): $4,000 vs. DEN
The Nuggets-Nets game promises to be a high-scoring, high-paced affair. Denver is among the worst at defending against shooting guards. The Nets will be giving their young players more minutes in the second half of the season. LeVert has already seen an uptick in minutes, averaging more than 23 minutes a game over the last month. With such a great matchup and a cheap price, LeVert should produce 5X value.

Small Forward

Brandon Ingram (LAL): $3,600 vs. OKC
Lou Williams has been the Lakers best player all season, averaging 18.6 per game this year and 21.8 points per over the last month. Now that Williams has been dealt to the Rockets, Luke Walton will start focusing on giving this young Lakers team a chance to develop. On Friday night, the Lakers face the Thunder, a team that struggles to defend small forwards, allowing 43.46 FanDuel points per game over the last 15 games. Ingram is poised for a big second half of the season and that starts with this good matchup against the Thunder on Friday night.

Power Forward

Dario Saric (PHI): $6,200 vs. WAS
The big winner in the trade sweepstakes turns out to be Saric who should see extra run for the Sixers now that Nerlens Noel moved to Dallas and Joel Embiid is not in the lineup Friday night. Saric and the Sixers face the Wizards in what should be a competitive game with playoff implications. Washington uses a turnstile to defend against power forwards, so Saric could have a field day. Over the past month, he’s producing 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He has a good shot to do better than that against the Wizards.

Center

Marcin Gortat (WAS): $6,800 vs. PHI
The Wizards did very little to bolster their bench for the stretch run to the playoffs. Gortat has played heavy minutes this season, averaging 34.5 per game, which is second for centers behind Karl-Anthony Towns. Gortat is the ninth most expensive center on Friday night’s slate and has a fantastic matchup against the Sixers who are without the services of Joel Embiid again. Gortat should feast on the poor Sixers defense.
