Connor McDavid is red-hot entering a prime matchup

After a whirlwind last seven days, it’s time to come back down to earth and re-focus on the NHL. I would like to thank all the my friends here at FantasyPros for their support last week. If you happened to have missed it, I was named the FSWA Hockey Writer Of The Year. Tonight I am going to use those skills to help you win at FanDuel cash games. Let’s take a look at a lineup I will be using in all my cash games. You can use this lineup as is or change it and make it your own.

Center

Connor McDavid (EDM): $8,600 vs Arizona
McDavid is fast becoming the face of the NHL. Currently leading the NHL with 61 total points, this kid is the complete package. He and his Oilers play a Coyotes team on the second half of a back to back. More than likely, the Coyotes will have Louie Domingue in net. I fully expect McDavid to rip apart the ‘Yotes defense and bury two past Domingue. I will have a ton of exposure to him in my lineups and you should too. Did I mention the Coyotes are the worst in the NHL against the center position.

Charlie Coyle (MIN): $5,700 vs Anaheim
Coyle has been moved all the lineup this year, but he seems to have found a home as the Wild’s third line center. With one goal and five assists in his last five, he is starting to come around. I expect him to help his linemate Pominville shine tonight. He will assist on Pominville’s goal and score one of his own.

Wing

P.A. Parenteau (NJ): $4,700 vs Colorado
If you have been following me then you know Parenteau is one of my favorite sleeper plays. He is often overlooked and under-owned. Tonight he gets to face off against his former team, the Colorado Avalanche. In seven career games against his former team, P.A. has two goals and four assists. I suspect he gets us a goal and two assists tonight with three shots on goal. His goal will be the game winner, or so I hope.

Anders Lee (NYI): $5,500 @ Toronto
Lee has been one of the hottest player this last two weeks in the NHL. With five goals and six assists in his last 10 games, this guy is the real deal. Tonight he gets to showcase his talents against a Maple Leafs team currently ranked 25th in the NHL in defending the wing position. The Leafs give up 2.9 goals a game, and Lee will feast on them. A goal and an assist with four shots on goal should be his stat line this evening.

Jason Pominville (MIN): $5,500 vs Anaheim
Like Lee above, Pominville has been on pure fire these last few games. With nine points (two goals / seven assists) in his last five games, he is showing his elite skills. He and his Wild get a home game (19-6-1 at home) against the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are middle of the road when it comes to defense. Pominville has been in the NHL long enough to find and exploit holes. I can see him getting two assists tonight with five shots on goal and a blocked shot. Huge upside at a low price.

Josh Bailey (NYI): $5,400 @ Toronto
After going on a offensive run, Bailey has been held silent his last three games. What is good about Josh is he never gives up. Although he has not been on the score sheet in his last three, he has averaged three shots in each game. Tonight he and his linemate Lee will be the Islanders’ best combo. Pairing them only makes sense.

Defense

Ryan Suter (MIN): $5,200 vs Anaheim
Suter is one of the top offensive defensemen in the NHL. Already with 30 points on the season, Suter will add to that total tonight. He averages two shots a game and will get us three tonight. On top of his shots, I foresee a powerplay assist and two blocked shots.

John Klingberg (DAL): $5,500 @ Winnipeg
In a game that will be a game of attrition, Klingberg will thrive. After starting the season off slow, Klingberg has found his stride and started playing like the star he is. He averages 1.5 blocked shots per game and just over 1.25 shots. He will sneak in a rare goal tonight while taking two shots and blocking two more.

Goalie

Cory Schneider (NJ): $8,400 vs Colorado
On a night everyone will target one of the top three goalies in their cash games, I will be on Schneider. Schneider is 3-1 in his last four starts, and gets an Avalanche team that ranks dead last in the NHL in goals for at 1.85 goals per game on the road. I don’t see him facing a lot of shots on net as the Avs average 28 or less per game. Schneider sports a .928 save percentage in his last five and should get the all-important win. Great GPP play as well.
