FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Saturday (3/18)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Saturday (3/18)

There are six games on FanDuel’s Saturday main slate. Houston travels to Denver in the highest projected game total of the night (238 o/u). There should be plenty of fantasy goodness in this game.

You will have some decisions as to which star(s) to ride with tonight. It seems like all of the NBA’s best are in action tonight. Whether you go with James Harden, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or Nikola Jokic, you will need to find some players that provide you with salary relief.

Here are 10 players that could meet or exceed 5X value freeing up salary as you construct your roster. As always, pay close attention to the news, especially an hour before lineups lock. Just like I do with my own lineups, decipher the information available and make the best decisions you can make for the contest(s) you enter.

POINT GUARD

Patty Mills (SA): $4,500 at MEM
Mills has played 37 minutes in each of the last two games. He is averaging 28.8 MPG in the last five games so he is definitely getting more and more opportunity with the Spurs. He is averaging 26.2 FanDuel points in his last five games and that is with an 8.0 stinker against OKC last week. If Tony Parker is out again tonight, then Mills should be a lock in your lineups.

Jamal Murray (DEN): $4,400 vs. HOU
In the last eight games, he has logged 20+ minutes six times. In those six games, he has averaged 24.6 FanDuel points, including his 30.9 performance on Monday against the Lakers. He returned 5X value again on Thursday when he earned 22.0 FanDuel points against the Clippers. Jameer Nelson may still be the starter but Murray is the future and will continue to get opportunities. Tonight, Denver plays Houston in a fast-paced game. This should also increase Murray’s opportunities.

SHOOTING GUARD

J.J. Redick (LAC): $4,300 vs. CLE
He has averaged 21.8 FanDuel points during the last six games. During that stretch, he has returned 4.7X value in five of those games. His minutes have been on the rise lately as he has averaged 29.7 MPG in the last four games. He is going against a Cleveland defense that is 27th in DvP.

J.R. Smith (CLE): $3,700 at LAC
Kyle Korver has already been ruled out and Iman Shumpert looks to be a game-time decision, which should open up even more opportunity for Smith. Since coming back from injury five games ago, his minutes have increased in every game (19, 21, 22, 23, 30). In the last two games, he has averaged 20.8 FanDuel points.

SMALL FORWARD

Joe Ingles (UTA): $4,100 at CHI
He is not ever a glamorous pick that will win you a tournament, but he is a solid play that can free up salary for you to use at other spots. He has averaged 21.3 FanDuel points in his last six games and 23.0 FanDuel points in his last three games. He has returned at least 4.9X value in five of his last six games.

Joe Johnson (UTA): $3,900 at CHI
Johnson has been playing a lot of power forward as Derrick Favors is out with an injury. He is averaging 18.5 FanDuel points in his last five games, but more importantly, he has upped his performances in the last two games with 22.3 and 25.5 FanDuel points. He has played 29 points in each of those games.

POWER FORWARD

JaMychal Green (MEM): $4,200 vs. SAS
He has averaged 25 MPG and 25.05 FanDuel points in his last four games. In the two games against Atlanta, he averaged 34.3 FanDuel points. He has been getting more playing time than Zach Randolph lately. It will be interesting to see if he can build off his two Atlanta performances this past week, particularly tonight against the Spurs.

Juancho Hernangomez (DEN): $4,000 vs. HOU
Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari are both out for tonight so Hernangomez should be provided with increased opportunities. He has averaged 22.5 MPG and 19.1 FanDuel points in his last two games. He should get a few additional minutes tonight. His 45.0 FanDuel performance back on February 13 against Golden State gives you a glimpse of what he is capable of. He is a good option tonight in a pace-up game.

CENTER

Mason Plumlee (DEN): $6,000 vs. HOU
He is priced higher than our usual value plays, but he is worth it and should provide value. He has reached 6X value in four of his last five games. He has averaged 28.1 MPG and 31.9 FanDuel points in his last six games. Included in those averages is a game against Boston when he got in foul trouble and only played 20 minutes, earning 21 FanDuel points. It is always nice having a point-per-minute guy available. Without Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari, there are even more opportunities than usual and it makes sense that Plumlee might play even more minutes in a pace-up game.

Zaza Pachulia (GSW): $4,400 vs. MIL
Pachulia has averaged 24.85 FanDuel points in the last four games on 19.75 MPG. He is a point-per-minute player for a high-octane offense. He has reached 6X value in three of the last four games. He has a nice matchup against Milwaukee tonight, who ranks 24th in DvP.
