FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Saturday (3/25)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Saturday (3/25)

This is a short FanDuel main slate tonight with only four games. Lebron James and Karl-Anthony Towns are the two high-priced players on the slate that are not point guards. In order to play multiple stars, you will need to find some value plays.

Here are 9 players that could meet or exceed 5X value freeing up salary as you construct your roster. As always, pay close attention to the news, especially an hour before lineups lock. Just like I do with my own lineups, decipher the information available and make the best decisions you can make for the contest(s) you enter.

Point Guard

Kris Dunn (MIN) : $3,500 at POR
It’s a four-game slate, you should be plugging in two of the top four point guards into your lineup. Don’t get cute. This is not the position to fade the stars. Raw points matter and this position should have plenty of points accrued tonight. But if you insist on being contrary, then you might as well go all-in with a minimum priced Dunn and hope that he plays a lot in the second game of a back-to-back. On Tuesday against the Spurs, he doubled his normal allotment of minutes with 24. Last night, he improved to 35 minutes in the overtime game against the Lakers. He earned 32.4 FanDuel points. Before that game, he hadn’t reached 20 FanDuel points in a game since February 15 against the Nuggets. Did I mention? Just play two studs at this position and don’t overthink it.

Shooting Guard

Seth Curry (DAL): $5,300 vs. TOR
On Thursday, Curry started at the point guard position and played well (23 points and 4 assists). He has been struggling recently averaging only 14.3 FanDuel points in his last six games prior to playing the Clippers on Thursday. His 29.6 FanDuel points in that game were reminiscent of his hot shooting in late February and early March when he averaged 31.4 FanDuel points. That eight-game span immediately preceded his recent six-game dry spell. With Toronto and their 20th ranked DvP, I like Curry to have another nice night.

Allen Crabbe (POR): $3,800 vs. MIN
Crabbe isn’t a glamorous play but he has been locked in with his minutes. He has averaged 31.6 MPG in the last eight games with a game of 25 minutes being his lowest during that stretch. Unfortunately, his production hasn’t matched his playing time. Minutes normally equals minutes in the world of fantasy so there is always the chance that he can return good value. He has had 20.4 and 21.5 FanDuel points in the last two games. Overall, in the last eight games, Crabbe is averaging 24.5 FanDuel points. He is safe with minutes but his upside is limited and there is always the chance that he falls short of reaching 20 FanDuel points.

Small Forward

Shabazz Muhammad (MIN): $4,000 at POR
Coming into last night’s game against the Lakers, Muhammad was averaging 26.75 MPG and nearly 25 FanDuel points in his last four games coming into last night’s game against the Lakers. He proceeded to play 12 minutes and have a grand total of 0 FanDuel points. He has talent but something isn’t quite right with him and the Minnesota rotation. His minutes and performances have fluctuated all year. If you are in the gambling mood, then take a chance on him. Otherwise, just play the high priced players at this position.

Bojan Bogdanovic (WAS): $3,800 at CLE
He has scored double-digit real life points in 11 of his last 12 games. He doesn’t really do much else that you can rely on but he is capable of putting up a nice game like he did last night against Brooklyn. His 30.4 FanDuel points may have been tied to the old team revenge narrative but he had 25.2 FanDuel points on Monday against the Celtics and he didn’t play for them. In his last 12 games, he has averaged 20.1 FanDuel points. I definitely wouldn’t play him and Muhammad unless you are feeling really lucky. I recommend the higher priced guys at this position if you don’t like much risk.

Power Forward

Gorgui Dieng (MIN) : $5,000 at POR
The power forward spot is not very strong tonight both at the top end or at the value tiers. Dieng has some upside but he also is very capable of having a dud. Last night he earned 30.7 FanDuel points in 39 minutes of play in their overtime game against the Lakers. But the game before that he had 13.8 FanDuel points, though it was against the tough Spurs defense. Overall, he has averaged 23.3 FanDuel points in his last 10 games. That isn’t even 5X value relative to where his price is at tonight, but there are not many other great options.

Noah Vonleh (POR): $3,800 vs. MIN
He has hit 5X value in seven straight games. He has averaged 20.3 FanDuel points during that span. His minutes have increased lately (26.5 MPG in last seven games), so he should be safe based on recent history. He saw a season-high 32 minutes on Thursday night against the Knicks. Near minimum price makes him an attractive option to fill out the roster as a value play with limited upside. There should always be a disclaimer on any Portland player because coach Terry Stotts is not the coach you want when it comes to his rotations and fantasy certainty.

Center

Guillermo Hernangomez (NYK): $5,100 at SAS
“Willy” has averaged 21.6 MPG and 25.1 FanDuel points in his last nine games. Thursday night he started. If he gets the start again then he is almost certain to hit value. If he comes off the bench then you’ll probably want to pass on him. The Spurs are tough defensively but he did earn 28.3 FanDuel points against them back on February 12 when he logged 29 minutes. Since the start of February, he has had 13 games in which he has played 20+ minutes. In those games, he has averaged nearly 30 FanDuel points.

Ian Mahinmi (WAS): $3,500 at CLE
He is coming off the bench but has been splitting minutes fairly evenly with Marcin Gortat as of late. Last night, he actually played more than Gortat and had a nice little game of 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals earning 34.4 FanDuel points. He is probably not likely to duplicate that tonight since Cleveland is pretty good defensively inside, but he might be worth a look at minimum price. Last night’s game was only the second time he has played at least 24 minutes in a game all year. The first time was in early March against the Suns and he went for 42.3 FanDuel points. Coming into last night’s game, he had averaged only 14.3 FanDuel points.
