FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (3/16)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (3/16)

Six games are on FanDuel’s main NBA slate tonight. Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, Lebron James, and Nikola Jokic are some of the big stars that are in action. If you want to roster more than one of these guys then you’ll need to find value. This doesn’t look like a great night for value unless some players end up sitting (like with the Clippers) but there are still a few interesting plays.

Here are nine players that could meet or exceed 5X value freeing up salary as you construct your roster. As always, pay close attention to the news, especially an hour before lineups lock. Just like I do with my own lineups, decipher the information available and make the best decisions you can make for the contest(s) you enter.

POINT GUARD

Jeremy Lin (BKN): $5,900 at NYK
He has averaged 28.3 FanDuel points in his last six games. During that span, he has returned at least 4.5X value in five of those games. At this price, he probably will not smash value tonight but there are not a lot of value options at this position. You should likely pay up for the top-tier players tonight, but if you want a cheaper option then Lin should be fairly safe against the Knicks.

Jamal Murray (DEN): $4,000 vs. LAC
In the last seven games, he has logged 20+ minutes five times. In those five games, he has averaged 25.2 FanDuel points, including his 30.9 performance on Monday against the Lakers. Jameer Nelson is still the starter and the veteran that is being relied on down the stretch but Murray is the future and will continue to get opportunities. With Wilson Chandler sitting again tonight, then there could be some extra minutes that trickle down to Murray like they did on Monday night.

SHOOTING GUARD

Caris LeVert (BKN): $4,400 at NYK
Sean Kilpatrick has already been ruled out for tonight which should increase LeVert’s minutes. With the way he has been playing the last two games, he might have earned that extra time regardless. He has earned 29.0 and 27.8 (vs. the Knicks) FanDuel points in his last two games. He also had 18.8 FanDuel points against the Knicks in early February so he should be looking forward to tonight’s matchup. Overall, he has averaged 19.8 FanDuel points in his last eight games.

Norman Powell (TOR): $4,100 vs OKC
If DeMarre Carroll sits then you need to lock in Powell. He earned 29.5 FanDuel points on Monday against Dallas when Carroll sat. On the year, he is averaging 15.1 PPG and 31.8 MPG in the games he starts compared to 5.1 PPG and 13.0 MPG when he comes off the bench. In the last 12 games that he has played at least 25 minutes, he has averaged 24.7 FanDuel points. The bottom line is that if he is in line to get minutes then he typically plays well.

SMALL FORWARD

Matt Barnes (GSW): $4,300 vs. ORL
He has finally started to get some playing time. He has gotten 22+ minutes in each of the last two games. He has averaged 27.5 FanDuel points in those games, as well. Granted one of them was against the Spurs in the JV game that featured no stars. But, remember that this is a guy that topped 30 FanDuel points in four of his last seven games before being traded to Golden State. He definitely has the ability to put up numbers and should continue to improve as he gets more and more comfortable with his role with the Warriors.

Joe Ingles (UTA): $4,000 at CLE
He is not a glamorous player to roster, but he should return value as long as Derrick Favors is out. Ingles has averaged 21.4 FanDuel points in his last five games.

POWER FORWARD

Taj Gibson (OKC): $4,200 at TOR
He has started the last three games which is a good sign that he is starting to get more comfortable with the OKC system. In his last two games, he has averaged 16 PPG and 7 RPG. This has amounted to an average of 24.9 FanDuel points. Even though he has been starting lately, his total minutes haven’t really changed as he hovers around the 22-24 MPG mark. He had 18.8 FanDuel points back in February against Toronto when he was still a member of the Bulls.

JaMychal Green (MEM): $3,900 at ATL
From game to game, there is always a question as to whether or not this will be a JaMychal Green game or a Zach Randolph game, so this is just an educated guess. But Green had a double-double (20 and 11) against the Hawks this past Saturday night. Those 34.2 FanDuel points are going to make me lean toward him being utilized a little bit more tonight in the rematch. He had a 41.9 FanDuel point performance in early February at Minnesota so he is definitely capable of putting up numbers. He is a bit risky because he has only topped 20 FanDuel points twice in the month of March, but those were 29.0 against Houston and 34.2 versus the Hawks. Buyer beware.

CENTER

Mason Plumlee (DEN): $5,800 vs. LAC
He is a pretty consistent player with upside. In his last five games, he has averaged 31.3 FanDuel points. In that same stretch, he has reached at least 6X value three times. With Wilson Chandler being out again tonight, this opens up a lot of minutes for other players, including Plumlee.
