FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (3/2)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (3/2)

There are only three games on the slate tonight but they all have some fantasy goodness. Each of the games have a projected game total of 218-220 points. There is some star power, which means that you will need to find value plays. I have provided nine options to give you salary relief tonight. Just like I do with my own lineups, decipher the information available to make the best decisions you can make for the contest(s) you enter. Check the news throughout the day, especially with trade deadline approaching and as always, trust the process!

POINT GUARD

Rajon Rondo (CHI): $5,200 vs. GSW
Don’t get cute. Play the studs. Rondo is the closest thing to a value option at this position tonight (unless a starter sits, of course). He has averaged 29.9 FanDuel points in his last four games.  He had 31.2 FanDuel points the last time he played against Golden State. The disclaimer is that he still plays for the Bulls and they are dysfunctional. It is also difficult to know what is going on with their minutes, especially at the point guard position.

SHOOTING GUARD

Alex Abrines (OKC): $3,500 at POR
In the last three games with Victor Oladipo out, he has averaged 30 MPG and 17.2 FanDuel points. If Oladipo sits again tonight, then he should put up similar numbers. It is a good matchup for him as Portland is ranked 26th in DvP.

Patrick McCaw (GSW): $3,500 vs. CHI
If you aren’t feeling Abrines or if Oladipo is playing and you still want to punt this position, then McCaw is your guy with Kevin Durant injured. We don’t have much of a sample size on him but when Durant was out he has performed decently.  In the last month, he has had three games of 25+ minutes. In those three games, he has earned 19.3, 23.2 and 21.2 FanDuel points. If he starts, then he probably is a good bet to play 25+ minutes, especially as a 7-point favorite against the Bulls.

SMALL FORWARD

T.J. Warren (PHO): $5,800 vs. CHA
With the P.J. Tucker trade during the all-star break, it opened up a lot of opportunity for Warren. He has averaged 37 MPG in the three games since, compared to 25 MPG in the three games before the trade. His fantasy numbers match his increased playing time as he is averaging 30.6 FanDuel points compared to 17.5 FanDuel points in the same comparison. Warren has hit 5x value in nine of his last 11 games (four of those being 6.9x or more). Charlotte is ranked 19th in DvP and the game has a 218 total.

Maurice Harkless (POR): $4,800 vs. OKC
Harkless has averaged 33.6 MPG in the five games since Evan Turner’s injury. His ceiling isn’t real high but he is a relatively safe play. He has gone for a value of at least 4.8x in five of his last six games, averaging 25.6 FanDuel points during that same span.

POWER FORWARD

Marquese Chriss (PHO): $4,500 vs. CHA
Chriss has averaged 24.2 FanDuel points in the last four games. He only had 20.7 Tuesday night but it was against an extremely strong defense, the stout frontline of the Memphis Grizzlies. He has gone over 30 FanDuel points twice in the last four games. He isn’t necessarily consistent overall this year but is a talented starting player who is playing well as of late. Charlotte is ranked 22nd in DvP. This game has a line of 218.

Nikola Mirotic (CHI): $4,200 vs. GSW
Mirotic let everybody down in the last game when he was a popular value play at $5,000 against the Nuggets. Tonight, he is priced down, so if you believe in his abilities or the potential for a bounce back, then he is a great option. In the two games before his Denver stinker (and let’s face it, all the Bulls except Rondo also had stinkers), he had 31.5 and 29.6 FanDuel points. Golden State is ranked 18th in DvP.

CENTER

Jusuf Nurkic (POR): $5,400 vs. OKC
In the four games since he was traded to Portland, he has averaged 13 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.8 APG, 1.0 BPG and 28 MPG. If he stays out of foul trouble then he is a great play. He had 26.9 FanDuel points against the formidable Utah Jazz. That was a 7.7x Value. He has averaged 29.3 FanDuel points since the trade. He had 29 FanDuel points when he was with Denver and they traveled to OKC back in January. The game tonight has a 219 total.

Robin Lopez (CHI): $4,800 vs. GSW
He has been inconsistent this year and I never really feel good rostering him, but I think he has the best ceiling of the sub $5,000 guys. He had 36 FanDuel points the last time these two teams met. He is only averaging 23.7 FanDuel points in his last four games. He has 30+ FanDuel points in three of his last 12 games. That is not necessarily great but for the price that isn’t bad upside for a GPP if you are looking to save some money at this position.
