FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (3/23)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (3/23)

There are five games on the FanDuel main slate tonight. The two highest projected scoring games for the evening are Phoenix at Brooklyn (223) and New York at Portland (218.5).

There are no $10k stars in action tonight, so you won’t need as much salary relief as normal, but you will still need to find one or two players that are cheap and can return at least 5X value.

Here are 10 players that are worthy of consideration as value options for tonight’s slate. As always, pay close attention to the news, especially an hour before lineups lock. Just like I do with my own lineups, decipher the information available and make the best decisions you can make for the contest(s) you enter.

POINT GUARD

Cory Joseph (TOR): $5,000 at MIA
He has gone over 4.6X value in his last four games as he has averaged 25.5 FanDuel points. In his last 10 games, he has averaged 24.1 FanDuel points. You know that Joseph is going to get the minutes, and he is typically a safe play. There is a little risk considering Miami is solid defensively and Joseph only had 9.6 FanDuel points the last time he played against the Heat.

Spencer Dinwiddie (BKN): $4,600 vs. PHO
He has averaged 30.25 FanDuel points in the last two games. Jeremy Lin is questionable for tonight. If Lin plays then Dinwiddie’s value is definitely lower, but in a paced-up game with Phoenix tonight, Dinwiddie is still viable. Phoenix is ranked 26th in DvP.

SHOOTING GUARD

Wesley Matthews (DAL): $4,500 vs. TOR
Matthews has averaged 34 MPG and 22.5 FanDuel points in the last two games. He is a streaky player, but if Seth Curry sits out then Matthews’ opportunity will increase.

J.J. Redick (LAC): $4,400 at DAL
He has been hot lately as he has averaged 25.2 FanDuel points in his last four games. Redick has returned at least 4.6X value in eight of his last nine games. His minutes are inconsistent but he is knocking down shots, as he has made 3.25 three-pointers per game over the last four games.

SMALL FORWARD

Caris LeVert (BKN): $4,300 vs. PHO
LeVert had 20.9 FanDuel points Tuesday night against Detroit after two poor games. However, he had three good games before that. Overall, he has averaged 20.7 FanDuel points in his last six games. He is getting consistent minutes at 25 MPG. This is a paced-up game so he could be in line to have a big night.

P.J. Tucker (TOR): $3,800 at MIA
Serge Ibaka is suspended for tonight’s game, which should lead to Tucker receiving even more opportunity. Tucker has been smashing value the last three games with Ibaka. Without him, Tucker may be in line for even more success. He has averaged 24.1 FanDuel points the last three games, which is 6.3X value. He is averaging 28.3 MPG during that stretch.

POWER FORWARD

Marquese Chriss (PHO): $5,100 at BKN
In the last four games, Chriss is averaging 30.25 MPG and 30.95 FanDuel points. This game has the highest total of the night at 223 points. Brooklyn is ranked 29th in DvP and they are a bad rebounding team. Chriss could easily put up a double-double in this game, especially if Alan Williams sits out again.

Noah Vonleh (POR): $3,800 vs. NYK
He has hit 5X value in six straight games. He has averaged 20.3 FanDuel points during that span. His minutes have increased lately (25.6 MPG in last six games), so he should be safe based on recent history. Still, his coach is Terry Stotts, who tends to do interesting things with his rotations.

CENTER

Nerlens Noel (DAL): $5,800 vs. LAC
There is not a lot of value at center tonight, so it makes Noel more attractive. Noel has tons of upside but he is still trying to find his way in Dallas. He had 45.1 FanDuel points when he played against the Clippers back in January as a member of the 76ers. starts start, he is a great play. If he is coming off the bench again, he’s riskier. Overall, he is averaging 23.7 FanDuel points in the last seven games but one of them was a 9.3 clunker and one of them was a 44.4 performance against a stout Memphis team. Buyer beware.

Alex Len (PHO): $5,100 vs. BKN
Len has hit 6.6X value in three of his last seven games, including Tuesday’s game when Alan Williams sat out with an illness. Even though Williams has outplayed Len this year, Len continues to start. If Williams sits out again, then Len is a must-play against a bad Brooklyn team in a paced-up game. Len has averaged 24.5 FanDuel points in his last six games.
