NBA FanDuel Value Plays: Monday (3/27)

Welcome to the Monday edition of the NBA FanDuel value plays. This article will focus on the six-game main slate on FanDuel. At the moment there does not appear to be a lot of safe value options for tonight’s slate. However, be sure to pay attention to news around the league prior to the lineup lock time in case any better value options do become available. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite value options for tonight.

Point Guard

Tony Parker (SAS): $4,100 vs. CLE
There is not really much to like at the point guard position tonight in terms of value. Parker is the only value point guard option who I would even come close to touching for tonight’s slate. He has a great matchup against Kyrie Irving, who is one of the worst defensive point guards in the league. On top of that, Parker has taken double-digit shot attempts in two out of his last three games.

Shooting Guard

Tony Allen (MEM): $4,100 at SAC
Allen is probably not going to help win a GPP contest anytime soon. However, he could be a decent salary relief option for your cash game lineup tonight. Over his last five games, Allen has scored between 20.4 and 23.7 FanDuel points in each contest. Tonight he has a decent matchup against the Kings, who have not been great this season on the defensive side of the ball.

Mario Hezonja (ORL): $3,600 at TOR
Similar to Allen, Hezonja is probably better suited for cash games, but only if you need even more salary relief than Allen. Hezonja’s minutes have been trending in the right direction lately with 23 and 28 minutes in his past two games. In those two games, he has produced 18.8 and 19.4 FanDuel points. By no means do those numbers jump off of the paper, but they are a decent return for someone who is almost the bare minimum on FanDuel.

Small Forward

P.J. Tucker (TOR) : $3,900 vs. ORL
Tucker started on Saturday for the injured DeMarrre Carroll and he did pretty well with 31.3 FanDuel points. Carroll’s status is still up in the air for tonight’s game against the Magic, but even if he is able to play Tucker is still a solid value option on this slate. In the four games prior to Saturday, Tucker has averaged 23.35 FanDuel points and played more minutes than Carroll in each of those contests.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas (NYK): $3,700 vs. DET
Similar to Tucker, Kuzminskas has benefited from an injury. Kuzminskas has started for Carmelo Anthony in each of the Knicks’ past two games and was pretty solid. In each of those games, he saw over 30 minutes of court time and scored 23.2 and 26.6 FanDuel points. Tonight’s matchup is not great against a pretty stingy Pistons’ defense, but Kuzminskas is still an excellent source of salary relief if Carmelo misses another game.

Power Forward

Aaron Gordon (ORL): $5,200 at TOR
Gordon’s production has been pretty stable in the second half of the season since the Magic traded Serge Ibaka to the Raptors. In his past 15 games, he has averaged 24.66 FanDuel points and has consistently been seeing around 30 minutes on the court. He does have a tough matchup tonight against the aforementioned Ibaka, but I’m willing to look past the matchup when considering the state of the value options at the power forward position.

Serge Ibaka (TOR): $5,700 vs. ORL
Speaking of Ibaka, he should also be considered tonight. Ibaka has been decent over his past four games, averaging 26.0 FanDuel points over that span. Also, the matchup is pretty good against Gordon and the Magic, who have fallen pretty hard defensively against opposing power forwards since they traded Ibaka.

Center

Willy Hernangomez (NYK): $5,100 vs. DET
Hernangomez benefited from both Carmelo Anthony and Lance Thomas missing Saturday’s game against the Spurs. In their absence, Hernangomez was able to put up 44.1 FanDuel points against a superb Spurs’ defense. While I cannot predict that Hernangomez will put up another 40 spot tonight against the Pistons, I still think he will be a solid option if either Carmelo or Thomas miss another game.
