Pitcher
Max Scherzer (WAS): $12,700 vs. Mets
Scherzer and the Nationals are -150 favorites at home in a game with an over/under total of only seven runs, according to Pinnacle. Yoenis Cespedes is banged up, taking a stud out of the lineup for the Mets. The Mets rank 29th in wRC+ (69) against right-handed pitchers this year, per FanGraphs, so they were in no position to sustain the loss of Cespedes from their lineup. The 2016 National League Cy Young Award winner is doing studly things again this year with a 1.95 ERA (2.50 FIP, 3.38 xFIP, and 2.96 SIERA), 0.83 WHIP, 7.6% BB%, and 31.4% K%. The sales pitch for Scherzer is simple, he’s awesome and the Mets’ offense is the polar opposite of awesome. Don’t get sticker shock, there’s plenty of value to be had in order to accommodate rostering Mad Max.
