I’m feeling a stack, and it’s one that I suspect will have a middle-of-the-road ownership percentage. That means today’s roster below is of the GPP variety. I won’t be providing honorable mentions for most members of the stack, the lone exception is at catcher. The reason I’ll be including honorable mentions for the catcher position is because catchers are more likely to get a day off than the typical fielder. Also, this catcher rounds out the stack as the number-five hitter for his club — at least he hit fifth last time they faced a lefty — so it’s defensible to stack the top-four hitters and pivot elsewhere. If you’re running multiple GPP lineups, I’m fine with mixing and matching the suggested pitchers. The key for this particular roster is the stack.

Pitcher
Yu Darvish (TEX): $11,900 vs. Angels
Darvish should be a very popular choice at pitcher, perhaps the most popular. This pick won’t be going against the grain, but it will be embracing upside. The Rangers are -171 favorites at home, per Pinnacle, so that bodes well for Darvish’s chances of picking up a win and the points that come with it. The righty’s 3.03 ERA through five starts bests his advanced metrics a bit (3.86 FIP, 3.55 xFIP, and 3.86 SIERA), but it’s not as if he’s been completely lucky. Darvish owns a 24.4% K%, and his 10.8% swinging strike percentage (SwStr%), according to FanGraphs, bests the league average of 10.4%. The 30-year-old hurler has electric stuff and is coming off of a dominant start at home against the Royals in which he allowed only two runs on five hits, one walk, and eight strikeouts. He’s also faced the Angels once this year, and he shut them out for seven innings allowing just five hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts. After walking eight batters in his first two starts spanning 12.1 innings, he’s reeled in his walk rate and issued only five free passes in his last three starts spanning 20.1 innings.
