We have a small four-game slate of MLB action for the Thursday night “main” slate. Small slates like we have on Thursday force me to shift my focus away from Cash games and on to GPP tournaments. So today’s suggestion will be a GPP lineup. With Chris Sale as the only high-priced ace pitcher on the slate and the Diamondbacks playing at home against Jered Weaver, you know where a large percentage of the ownership will be on tonight’s slate. Getting pieces of both, while possible, will not allow you to differentiate your lineup from the field and force you into some less desirable hitters. So I will be pivoting off Sale in an attempt to be a little bit contrarian while still getting the meat of the Diamondbacks’ lineup.
As always, be sure to pay close attention to the lineups when they are released and monitor the weather leading up to game time.

Adam Wainwright (STL): $7,900 vs TOR
Wainwright will pitch the second game of a doubleheader with the Blue Jays on Thursday. The Blue Jays are dealing with injuries and a lack of hitting so far this season with a 23.9% strikeout rate (8th highest) and a bottom four wOBA and wRC+ against righties. Playing in the second game of a doubleheader before traveling home for a game on Friday will also likely mean a lineup that is full of reserves and a team that is ready to get out of town. Wainwright hasn’t topped five innings in any of his four starts this season but while he has a 6.27 ERA, his xFIP comes in at 3.10 with a 24.4% strikeout rate. Another strong pivot at pitcher is to limit your Diamondbacks stack to three hitters and plug in Taijuan Walker.
