FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (4/6)

FanDuel NBA Value Plays: Thursday (4/6)

There are six games on FanDuel’s main slate tonight. None of the big-time mega stars are in action, but there are still All-Stars that you will want to roster because of their raw points potential. In order to roster Jimmy Butler, John Wall, Karl-Anthony Towns or Damian Lillard, you will need to find salary relief.

We are down to the last couple of games of the year. It is very important to check the news today (especially one hour before lock) because teams are doing crazy things right now with their starting lineups and rotations. Just like I do with my own lineups, decipher the information available and make the best decisions you can make for the contest(s) you enter.

POINT GUARD

T.J. McConnell (PHI): $5,600 vs. CHI
He is a good bet to get 30+ minutes (33.8 MPG in his last five games) and he has returned 5X value fairly consistently the last few weeks. Tonight he gets Rajon Rondo defense, which isn’t what it used to be. In his last nine games, McConnell has averaged 27.0 FanDuel points. The last time he took on Chicago, he earned 31.0 FanDuel points in only 26 minutes.

Spencer Dinwiddie (BKN): $4,000 at ORL
Unless your name is Jeremy Lin or Brooke Lopez, you are not a trusted Brooklyn Nets fantasy option. If you need a little more salary relief and like to sweat then you can take a chance on Dinwiddie. He is a point-per-minute player in his last six games with 21.1 FanDuel points and 21 MPG. Last week when he faced Orlando, he played 20 minutes and earned 18.1 FanDuel points. He had 27.9 FanDuel points against the 76ers this past Tuesday.

SHOOTING GUARD

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot (PHI): $4,800 vs. CHI
If you have been chasing waterfalls lately, then TLC has been paying off quite nicely for you. Since he started getting run five games ago, he has averaged a whopping 36.4 MPG and 28.1 FanDuel points. He is athletic and the 76ers have no depth right now, which has allowed TLC the opportunity to showcase his abilities.

Courtney Lee (NYK): $4,600 vs. WAS
With Derrick Rose out, he has seen plenty of additional opportunity. He has averaged 34.7 MPG and 24.8 FanDuel points in his last seven games. He has reached at least 28 FanDuel points in two of his last three games.

SMALL FORWARD

Taurean Prince (ATL): $4,200 vs. BOS
In the last five games, Prince has averaged 34.4 MPG and 24.3 FanDuel points. Not bad for a rookie receiving his first five starts of his career toward the end of the year. As long as Thabo Sefolosha is out, then you can expect Prince to get plenty of opportunity. In his earlier game against Boston, He played 30 minutes and earned 31.9 FanDuel points. Boston is not a good team defensively and they are coming off a tough game against Cleveland last night, so they might be more susceptible than usual to fantasy production.

Alex Poythress (PHI): $3,500 vs. CHI
He was just called up from the D-League last week and has performed well in his two games. He has averaged 26 MPG, 10.5 PPG, and 21.5 FanDuel points. Philadelphia is playing with a depleted roster, so I expect him to continue to get the chance to play extended minutes.

C.J. Miles (IND): $3,500 vs. MIL
Miles is not for the faint of heart. He has been inconsistent this year but has some upside. Even against Milwaukee, he has had 11.4 and 26.4 FanDuel points in the last two meetings. He has had five 25+ FanDuel games since mid-February and just had a 39.2 outing at Cleveland on Sunday. He is just as likely to bust as he is to hit value, but he can get hot, especially if he is in the starting lineup.

POWER FORWARD

Al-Farouq Aminu (POR): $4,800 vs. MIN
He has gotten additional playing time at the Center position since Jusuf Nurkic got hurt. In the last six games, he has been a point-per-minute guy as he has averaged nearly 29 FanDuel points and 29.5 MPG. He has reached value in all of those games, except for the last one against Utah, which is understandable. This past Monday, he exploded for 41.9 FanDuel points against Minnesota. I don’t expect him to have this kind of performance again, but I really like his consistency.

Bobby Portis (CHI): $3,700 at PHI
With Nikola Mirotic playing well lately, Portis has been losing playing time. However, he still has upside and Mirotic isn’t the most reliable option, historically. In his last nine games, Portis has averaged 21 MPG and 19.3 FanDuel points. When he played Philadelphia two weeks ago, he earned 34.7 FanDuel points in 22 minutes of play. The 76ers are still a depleted group that struggles on the defensive end. He is very risky, though, as he has gone over 30 FanDuel points twice in his last six games, but has also been under 20 in the other four games.

CENTER

Kyle O’Quinn (NYK): $4,100 vs. WAS
I do not like any of the cheaper options at this position. I would play one of the higher-tier options. But if you absolutely need salary relief and feel like gambling than you can play everyone’s favorite tilt-producer, Kyle O’Quinn. I am not sure if anyone has gotten him right all year, but if you do then you would be making some money. In his last 10 games, he has averaged 19.7 FanDuel points on 16.8 MPG. He just had 37.9 FanDuel points on Tuesday against Chicago. His 5 blocks and 5 assists in that game are probably outliers but that is pretty good value for a guy that costs $4,100. During this same 10 game stretch, he also had a 38.1 FanDuel performance. His minutes have varied widely. He is a very risky play. If you play scratch-offs at the local convenience store, then he is your type of player.
