Daily Pitcher Overview 6/28 (Start/Sit, Streamers, DFS)

Starting today, I’m going to give you a lightning rundown of everything you are hoping to know about the day’s probable pitchers. Every day, I get a dozen start/sit questions about the day’s pitchers and plenty of streaming questions. I have been using a simple sit/start algorithm on my own teams for a handful of years so I’ll run each option through it to give you the quick answer you are looking for. I’ll also give some insight on my favorite streaming option of the day as well as my top DFS cash game and GPP play.

Top Streamer

Blake Snell (TBR @ PIT)

You may have been one of the poor souls that was burned by Snell over the first two months of the season. You aren’t alone, I drafted him too. That doesn’t mean the rest of his career is doomed, however. This is a former top 15 prospect and Minor League Pitcher of the Year. When he was sent back down to the minors, he worked out his bad mechanics and dominated, striking out 61 hitters in 44 innings with a 2.66 ERA. Granted, the walks will still be there, but he has a decent shot at a win, will pile up the K’s today against the Pirates and shouldn’t hurt your ratios too much, if at all.

Top DFS Cash Game Option

David Paulino (HOU vs OAK)

The Astros’ rookie is dirt cheap on FanDuel ($7,500) and DraftKings ($6,500) despite being a heavy favorite (-178) with minimal implied runs against by Vegas. Oakland is 4th in the Majors in strikeouts and 23rd in runs scored, which sets up well for Paulino who pumps in 97 MPH heaters with significant strikeout upside.

Top DFS Tournament Option

Trevor Bauer (CLE vs TEX)

Disregard the inflated ERA, Bauer has actually been quite good outside of a few explosions. He has immense upside tonight seeing that the Rangers are a top-five strikeout team in the majors and yet no one will be on him because Darvish opposes him. Bauer is 7th in baseball for K/9 and carries a better xFIP than Roby Ray, Michael Fulmer and Darvish himself. If that’s not enough, consider that he has allowed 3 or less runs in 7 of his previous 9 starts and is cheap on both sites.
