DraftKings MLB Lineup Advice: Thursday (6/29)

We have 13 games total today, with a five-game early slate that starts at 12:10 pm. Some big name pitching options on the slate, so you will need to find some value if you want to roster them.

For reference throughout the season, be sure to bookmark our overview of MLB Park Factors and how to Use Weather to Your Advantage in MLB DFS. Also, check out our GPP and Cash Games Primers to learn more about different daily fantasy game types specific to MLB.

Pitcher

Chris Archer (TAM): $11,300 @ PIT
Archer is a bit cheaper than Kershaw today, and he is in a good spot if you are looking for a cash game pitcher. Archer has put up eight or more strikeouts in three of his last four games, and is coming into this starts with a 29% strikeout rate vs both left-handed hitters and right-handed hitters. Elite level numbers from the Rays’ ace, who is pitching at a decent pitcher’s park against one of the worst offensive teams in the league. The Pirates have the sixth fewest runs scored. Great spot for Archer. Lock and load him today.

Dinelson Lamet (SDP): $7,000 vs. ATL
If you are looking for a cheaper pitching option, who has good upside for tournaments, Lamet is the man. He is at home in one of the best pitcher’s parks in the league, and he has shown he has the strikeout upside to get big points. He has six starts this season and has tallied eight or more strikeouts in three of those games. The Braves may have a better strikeout rate vs right-handed pitching, but they lack a ton of power and aren’t a big threat offensively.

Other Notables

Catcher

Alex Avila (DET): $4,000 vs. KAN
Avila is a great option at catcher, but only when he is facing a right-handed pitcher, as he is today. This season vs RHP, he has a .455 wOBA and a .299 ISO. Those are big time power numbers, and this offers a ton of production from a position DFS players usually spend down at. Great as a one off in GPPs if you have the salary to spare.

Other Notables

  • Brian McCann (HOU): $3,700 vs. OAK
  • J.T. Realmucto (MIA): $3,700 vs. NYM

First Base

Eric Thames (MIL): $4,440 @ CIN
Thames may be on a bit of a cold streak, but he is at one of the best hitter’s parks in the league, and up against a pitcher who simply isn’t that good. This season vs right-handed pitching, Thames has a .394 wOBA and a .301 ISO. So the power upside is there, and his little down slope now could make him lower owned in tournaments.

Other Notables

Second Base

Brian Dozier (MIN): $4,600 @ BOS
Dozier is always a good option when he is going up against a left-handed pitcher, and today is no different. This season vs LHP, Dozier has a .407 wOBA and a .214 ISO. He is at Fenway, which is a great hitter’s park, and with numbers like those, provides great potential for a home run.

Other Notables

Third Base

Jedd Gyorko (STL): $4,300 @ ARI
It’s always nice to have some exposure to teams playing in Arizona, which is one of the better hitter’s parks in the league, and Gyorko is a great option. Gyorko comes into this game with a .378 wOBA and a .283 ISO vs left-handed pitching this season and makes a great play in all formats.

Other Notables

Shortstop

Troy Tulowitzki (TOR): $3,400 vs. BAL
Tulowitzki is up against Ubaldo Jimenez tonight who is one of the true gas cans of DFS. People love to stack against Jimenez, and tonight should be no different. Tulowitzki comes into this game on a four-game hitting streak, with two multi-hit games, and two home runs. A bit of an uptick in production for him, and a great time to grab him before he gets too expensive.

Other Notables

Outfielders

Jay Bruce (NYM): $4,100 @ MIA
If you are looking for a hitter with big time power upside, Bruce is your man. Bruce has big time splits vs right-handed pitching, and this season he has a .400 wOBA and a .317 ISO. Those are serious power numbers, and Bruce could come in lowered owned in tournaments since he is at a pitcher’s park.

Mookie Betts (BOS): $5,000 vs. MIN
Betts is generally a good option for any format, and tonight is no different. He is at home in a hitter’s park against a bad pitcher. So if you have the salary, load him up and sit back. This season vs right-handed pitching, he has a .342 wOBA and a .189 ISO.

Trey Mancini (BAL): $4,300 @ TOR
Mancini comes into tonight with an eight-game hitting streak, and two home runs over that span. He is swinging a hot bat, and against a streaky pitcher like J.A. Happ, you should have some exposure. He has a .324 wOBA vs left-handed pitching this season and is at a nice hitter’s park tonight.
