DraftKings PGA Value Plays: Travelers Championship

After a thrilling U.S. Open that saw heavy hitter Brooks Koepka hoist his first major championship, the beat goes on for the Tour. This week’s Traveler’s Championship boasts a strong field for a tournament immediately following a major, with Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, and Rory McIlroy all teeing it up in Connecticut. DraftKings continues to put out a bevy of DFS options for your liking so make sure to join a tournament game or gather your buddies for a private contest so you can gain all the bragging rights. One way to gain an advantage is to check out our value plays for the week.

Brian Harman ($8,900)
The 54-hole leader of the U.S. Open last week will try to close out a victory this week. The Canadian lefty finished T2 in a solid showing for a player who has not played in many majors during his young career. He has had a heck of a season so far, adding a victory at the Wells Fargo and five other top-10 finishes. Harman ranks just 119th in total driving but what he lacks in distance he makes up with precision on the green. His total putting ranking of fourth means he will score just about anywhere. Couple that with his hot streak so far and you have a player to be reckoned with.

Jamie Lovemark ($7,700)
Lovemark was in contention for awhile at the Open, but did not finish strong enough to crack the top-25 last week. His previous two events were both top-20 finishes so he is in mid-season form right now. Don’t chase some of the bigger names at this price point but instead go with consistency and momentum. Finding one thing that Lovemark separates himself from the rest of the field with is challenging, but what is impressive is the fact that he does not rank below 100 in any major stat category.

Emiliano Grillo ($7,200)
The 24-year-old Argentinian has had a tough season this year after a stellar 2016 campaign, but he did finish 11th at The Players back in May and is always a threat to go low with his go-for-it mentality. He is due for a win after his drought since the beginning of the 2015-2016 season, and is one of the more consistent names with upside at his price point.

Don’t forget about these guys

  • William McGirt ($7,100)
  • Harris English ($6,900)
  • Harold Varner ($6,700)

Off the Cart Path

Retief Goosen ($6,500)
Every once in a while a veteran guy comes out and shows why he’s been a solid Tour pro for decades, and this might be the week for Goosen. He struggled to finish strong after a 66-68 at the St. Jude a couple weeks ago, but he proved that he still had a lot of game, scoring 15 birdies that week. He’s the ultimate big name guy with a bottom barrel price.
