FanDuel PGA Lineup Advice: Quicken Loans National

FanDuel PGA Lineup Advice: Quicken Loans National

This Thursday, PGA Tour action comes to us from the Quicken Loans National in Potomac, Maryland. This tournament looks like the lineup is going to be a bit weaker than what we’ve seen over the last several weeks, but that doesn’t mean the daily fantasy golf competition is going to be weak. In fact, that usually means the competition in these tournaments is going to be even tougher.

Before you draft a team on FanDuel, make sure that you know how their scoring is different from other DFS sites. Additionally, FanDuel’s scoring system changed a few weeks ago, and this creates a little more confusion for the fantasy manager. For your benefit, I’ve put together a roster, breaking down some of the key elements below. The dollar amount included is the golfer’s salary on FanDuel only, so if you are drafting a team on another site, this lineup will not be very helpful to you. Hopefully, this will help you to draft a stronger team than your competition.

Recommendations

  • Rickie Fowler: $10,200
  • Brendan Steele: $8,800
  • Marc Leishman: $8,500
  • Adam Hadwin: $7,600
  • Xander Schauffele: $6,400
  • Lucas Glover: $6,200
  • Luke List: $6,200
  • Matt Jones: $5,900

Remaining Salary: $200

Reasoning

Drafting Rickie Fowler here is almost a no-brainer. I say “almost” only because he is by far the most expensive golfer listed. This will prevent a lot of people from drafting him, but he’s so far above the rest of the competition entered that even though he’s expensive, he’s still a strong value pick. In fact, the only golfer with an expected fantasy point total anywhere near Fowler is Brendan Steele, who is also included in our roster. At least one of these two golfers are likely to finish in the top five, and thanks to a few strong value picks further down on my roster, I can include both of these golfers. This should be a good one-two punch that will help any roster regardless of who they draft below.

Marc Leishman is another good pick here. He has strong stats, having made 14 of 16 cuts so far this season. He’s also averaging a competitive 70.9 fantasy points per tournament. He’s not quite at the same level as Steele, but he’s pretty close.

Lucas Glover and Luke List have similar stats, and although List has a slightly better fantasy performance this season, Glover has proven to be more consistent in making cuts. He’s made 14 out of 19, compared to List’s 14 out of 22. They are identical in price, and they’re both affordable with the given roster. They stand out above all of those listed around them with similar prices, and they make for strong additions to the roster.

The final addition to the roster is Matt Jones. Jones is a judgment call as there are a lot of golfers near the bottom of the lineup that could add value to your roster. But Jones has shown the greatest level of consistency with nine out of 13 cuts made. His fantasy point average of 57.5 per tournament has also put him on a level slightly ahead of those priced around him. With the extra $200 that this roster provides you with, it might be worthwhile for you to look at those priced at $6,000 or $6,100, but the only golfer in this range that comes close to Jones is Vaughn Taylor. Jones is still the strongest pick, but do know that there’s some wiggle room if you want it.
