FanDuel PGA Value Plays: US Open

FanDuel PGA Value Plays: US Open

The beast of Erin Hills is the challenger this week for the US Open. Extra value plays for an extra special week. This Par 72, 7,800-yard monster will only be able to be handled by the best.

The six value plays for the second major of the year will be able to tame the beast. Tee to green is where this tournament will be won, so here are the six best guys for this week. This week’s super sleeper might even be better than last week’s Ben Crane’s steal.

Alexander Noren ($7,800)
A top 10 finish at the Players this year shows that he is ready to compete on the PGA Tour. After three big wins on the European Tour last season, Noren is poised for a big win in America.

His ball striking is top notch and at Erin Hills he should be able to keep it in play. Look for Noren’s name to be near the top come Sunday afternoon in Wisconsin.

Tomas Pieters ($7,400)
The former basketball player at 6’5″, is starting to make a name for himself in America. Pieters had a great tournament at Augusta this season finishing T4, proving he can play in the spotlight.

Pieters is a phenomenal iron player, and his ball striking will definitely be tested at Erin Hills this week. Young European players are a theme this week, so bet on the Belgian this week.

Brendan Steele ($7,200)
One of the most underrated ball strikers on the PGA Tour. Steele is 20th in strokes gained off the tee and is currently first in scrambling, which will be very important at the fescue ridden Erin Hills. Steele already has a win on tour this season, along with three other top 10s. The California native is in his prime right now and could be looking at his first major win.

Shane Lowry ($7,100)
Lowry has been phenomenal at the US Open in the past two years; finishing T2 last year and T9 at Chambers Bay in 2015. Lowry had a T15 finish at the Memorial Tournament just two weeks ago, and is playing a lot more events in America this season.

Staying in the fairway will be key this week at Erin Hills, and Lowry has done that this season slotting himself inside the top 20 in strokes gained off the tee. Keep a close eye on the Irishman this week, especially on Sunday.

Byeong-Hun An ($6,800)
The South Korean has missed just one cut out of 15 events this year on the PGA Tour. An has three top 10s this year, and has been oh so close to capturing his first PGA Tour title.

An has struck the ball beautifully this year, as he sits in 15th in strokes gained from tee to green. The 25-year-old will look to improve on his T23 finish at last year’s US Open.

Peter Uihlein ($5,900)
Uihlein is my super sleeper for the week, and it is because he is one of the few golfers in the field who has played Erin Hills competitively. Uihlein played in the US Amateur in 2011 at Erin Hills where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals. One top 25 and one top 5 in just four events on the PGA Tour this season, Uihlein is starting to make a name for himself.

The 27-year-old has played a majority of his pro events on the European Tour, which will benefit him on a crazy course like Erin Hills. A good driver of the golf ball, Uihlein should find success at his first US Open appearance.
