Daily Pitcher Overview 7/20 (Start/Sit, Streamers, DFS)

We’ve only got nine games going tonight, but there are as many startable fantasy arms tonight than there are for most full slates. Let’s take a look at the top streamer, DFS plays and some start/sit decisions.

Top Streamer

Jhoulys Chacin (SDP @ SFG)

Chacin hasn’t been lights out this season with a 4.33 ERA and 1.31 WHIP, but if you look closer, there is plenty of reason to love him tonight. Between San Diego and San Francisco, Chacin is sporting a 2.19 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. Seeing that the Giants are third worst at scoring in the Bigs, there is no reason to let him sit on the waiver wire today.

Top DFS Cash Game Option

Brandon McCarthy (LAD vs ATL)

No, this isn’t a typo–it shouldn’t read Madison Bumgarner here. Yes, Mad-Bum is a big favorite against the Padres and likely to pick up 7+ Ks, but Chacin is no slacker as I mentioned above. Most importantly, the price difference between him and McCarthy is $3,900 and on a slate where there are so many low scoring games expected, we are going to need all the cash we can get. McCarthy is an even bigger favorite tonight at -205 thanks to the Dodgers winning 31 of their last 35 (and just one game to an NL team since June 7th) and also has a very low implied opponent total. There isn’t huge upside here, but there certainly will be in your lineup.

Top DFS Tournament Option

Brandon McCarthy (LAD vs ATL)

Low k-rate expected, might not even pitch long enough to get the quality start, so what gives? Like I said, he should get you 30-40 points and at just $7,300, that’s all you can ask for. This will enable you to play stacks that no one else can touch, setting you apart from the field when the Dodgers and Orioles go off.

Start/Sit Table

Guide

*All stats based on our daily projections
OWN – ownership % between ESPN and Yahoo!
Score – Based on an algorithm that weighs if their ratios are too high to offset the odds of them getting a win and add strikeouts to your team totals
Recommendation – For Roto and H2H season-long leagues
DFS Cash – Not based on value, but performance only. Heavily favors ratios and odds at getting the win and quality start
DFS GPP – Not based on value, but performance only. Built to focus more on strikeout potential and stamina
*The table is sorted by their season-long fantasy appeal
