We have a seven-game main slate tonight, and there are plenty of big name arms on the bump. If you’re going to be spending up on pitching, we will need to find a bit of savings to squeeze them in. There’s only one game, ATL @ WAS, that has weather concerns, so be sure to check on that before first pitch.

Pitcher
Chris Sale (BOS): $13,300 @ TB
Sale has been one of the most dominant pitchers this season, and any time he is on the mound you shouldn’t fade him. Sale has put up nine or more strikeouts in four straight starts and is up against the Rays who have a 26% strikeout rate vs left-handed pitching. This season Sale has over a 32% strikeout rate vs both lefties and righties. He is super consistent and has a very high floor. Play him in every lineup you can afford him.
Josh Tomlin (CLE): $6,400 vs. SDP
Tomlin hasn’t been that consistent this year, but he has a very favorable matchup tonight. He is up against the Padres, who have a 25.8% strikeout rate vs right-handed pitching, which is worst in the majors. This is big time upside for him, and he offers a ton of savings if you are trying to fit Sale into the same lineup. The Padres have scored the least runs of any team, so they don’t pose a big offensive threat.
Other Notables
- Robbie Ray (ARI): $10,500 @ LAD
- Jose Berrios (MIN): $9,600 vs. BAL
Catcher
Brian McCann (HOU): $3,400 @ TOR
McCann is a bit of a reverse splits hitter this season. He has a .344 OBP, .302 ISO, and a 137 wRC+ against left-handed pitching. Always nice to have some production at catcher, a spot where DFS players tend to spend down. Rostering McCann also gives you some exposure to the always explosive Astros offense, which is never a bad thing. He is up against Francisco Liriano, who is one of the lowest priced pitchers on the slate, and a gas can DFS players love to target.
Other Notables
- Yasmani Grandal (LAD): $3,900 vs. ARI
- Mike Zunino (SEA): $3,200 vs. KAN
First Base
Mitch Moreland (BOS): $3,300 @ TAM
Moreland will have the platoon advantage over Jake Faria tonight. Moreland has a 119 wRC+, .357 OBP, and a .225 ISO. Really strong numbers from the lefty, who has hits in seven of his last 10 games. Faria is a young pitcher who hasn’t proven himself over a long sample, and he’s up against a powerful offense tonight.
Other Notables
- Edwin Encarnacion (CLE): $4,500 vs. SDP
- Ryan Zimmerman (WAS): $4,200 vs. ATL
Second Base
Jed Lowrie (OAK): $3,600 @ SEA
Lowrie is always a nice option at the keystone position. He bats high in the order and is often cheap. He comes into this game with a .362 OBP, .206 ISO and a 130 wRC+ vs right-handed pitching this season. Lowrie has hits in seven of his last 10 games, and gives you some nice salary relief.
Other Notables
- Daniel Murphy (WAS): $5,000 vs. ATL
- Taylor Motter (SEA): $3,200 vs. OAK
Third Base
Miguel Sano (MIN): $4,700 vs. BAL
Sano has been flat out crushing the ball vs right-handed pitching this season. He has a .368 OBP, .269 ISO, and a .381 wOBA. Massive numbers for the player at the hot corner, who is a threat to go deep any night. Dylan Bundy has a 4.26 xFIP vs righties this year, which puts Sano in a great spot.
Other Notables
- Josh Donaldson (TOR): $4,000 vs. HOU
- Kyle Seager (SEA): $3,700 vs. OAK
Shortstop
Stephen Drew (WAS): $2,800 vs. ATL
With Trea Turner on the DL, Drew has stepped into the starting role. Drew not only brings a ton of salary relief, but he gets you exposure to the Nationals hot offense. Drew has a .321 wOBA, a .329 OBP, and a .145 ISO vs right-handed pitching this season. He is up against Lamet who is giving up a .422 wOBA vs lefty hitters this year.
Other Notables
- Xander Bogaerts (BOS): $4,000 @ TAM
- Troy Tulowitzki (TOR): $3,300 vs. HOU
Outfielders
George Springer (HOU): $5,000 @ TOR
Springer might be the hottest hitter in baseball, and any time you can get him against a pitcher, Liriano, who is giving up a .370 wOBA vs right-handed hitters, you take that. Springer comes into this game with a 207 wRC+, a .435 OBP, and a .397 ISO vs left-handed pitching. Amazing numbers from the young player, and in a great spot tonight.
Robbie Grossman (MIN): $3,900 vs. BAL
Grossman is on a bit of a hot streak. He has hits in eight of his last 10 games and is in a good spot tonight to keep that going. He is up against Bundy, who is giving up a .346 wOBA vs left-handed hitters. Grossman has a .345 wOBA, a .447 OBP, and a .171 ISO this season vs right-handed pitching.
Jarrod Dyson (SEA): $3,600 vs. OAK
Dyson is really only in play when he is up against a right-handed pitcher as he is tonight. He has a .327 wOBA, a .349 OBP and a .137 ISO vs RHP this season. Dyson also brings a good amount of stolen base upside, as he has three SB in six Games vs OAK this year.
Other Notables
- Andrew Benintendi (BOS): $4,500 @ TAM
- Michael Brantley (CLE): $3,900 vs. SDP
- Matt Kemp (ATL): $3,400 @ WAS
- Brian Goodwin (WAS): $3,300 vs. ATL
