DRAFT NFL Lineup Advice: Week 2 (Thu/Sun/Mon)

DRAFT NFL Lineup Advice: Week 2 (Thu/Sun/Mon)

It was a crazy Week 1 in the NFL as two Chiefs led the way in fantasy points.

Rookie Kareem Hunt introduced himself to the world in the premiere football game on Thursday night. Teammate Alex Smith also had a career-day against the defending Super Bowl champs.

They were followed by Matthew Stafford and Sam Bradford. Predictable…uh…sure.

Antonio Brown was the best wide receiver, as he tallied 11 receptions for 182 yards. However, he failed to find the end zone.

Stefon Diggs had no trouble at all locating pay dirt. He scored twice on Monday night and finished with the second-highest WR/TE total.

Now, for the Week 2 rankings…

Quarterback

1. Tom Brady, Patriots (@ Saints)
2. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (@ Falcons)
3. Matt Ryan, Falcons (vs. Packers)
4. Drew Brees, Saints (vs. Patriots)
5. Derek Carr, Raiders (vs. Jets)
6. Russell Wilson, Seahawks (vs. 49ers)
7. Cam Newton, Panthers (vs. Bills)
8. Jameis Winston, Bucs (vs. Bears)
9. Carson Palmer, Cardinals (@ Colts)
10. Philip Rivers, Chargers (vs. Dolphins)

We have two great games to choose some stellar quarterbacks in Week 2. New England looks to rebound after a horrible first game of the season. They travel to New Orleans where Vegas has this game pegged with a 55.5 over/under, highest of Week 2. The Patriots are projected to score 31 points and Drew Brees’ Saints are slated to score 24.5.

On Sunday night, the Packers face the Falcons. Both of these clubs won their first game but did so in an underwhelming fashion. Aaron Rodgers and Co. only produced 17 points against Seattle and Matty Ice’s squad needed a final defensive stop to beat the Bears. This line is set at 53.5.

I would be happy with any of these four, but my lean is toward the two on my predicted winning side. Brady first, followed by ARodg. I wouldn’t be surprised to see all four throw for at least three TDs and 300 yards.

Running Back

1. Le’Veon Bell, Steelers (vs. Vikings)
2. Melvin Gordon, Chargers (vs. Dolphins)
3. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (@ Broncos)
4. Marshawn Lynch, Raiders (vs. Jets)
5. LeSean McCoy, Bills (@ Panthers)
6. Devonta Freeman, Falcons (vs. Packers)
7. Kareem Hunt, Chiefs (vs. Eagles)
8. Todd Gurley, Rams (vs. Redskins)
9. Leonard Fournette, Jaguars (vs. Titans)
10. Jay Ajayi, Dolphins (@ Chargers)
11. Ty Montgomery, Packers (@ Falcons)
12. Dalvin Cook, Vikings (@ Steelers)
13. C.J. Anderson, Broncos (vs. Cowboys)
14. DeMarco Murray, Titans (@ Jaguars)
15. Lamar Miller, Texans (@ Bengals)
16. Jordan Howard, Bears (@ Bucs)
17. Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (vs. Bills)
18. Terrance West, Ravens (vs. Browns)
19. Mike Gillislee, Patriots (@ Saints)
20. Carlos Hyde, 49ers (@ Seahawks)

Le’Veon Bell is the main back on this list, but I’m not spending a high pick on him. He only mustered 32 rushing yards on 10 carries against the Browns in Week 1. This is also the same guy who ran for 236 yards on 38 carries (three TDs) against the Bills last December. So, I never doubt his potential. However, I would wait and take Gordon, Elliott, or Lynch with my first RB pick.

Ty Montgomery only had four targets last week for the Packers, but he caught all four looks (39 yards) and rushed for 54 yards, including a touchdown. In a game projected to have a ton of offense, I’ll take Monty as my RB2.

Wide Receiver/Tight End

1. Julio Jones, Falcons (vs. Packers)
2. Antonio Brown, Steelers (vs. Vikings)
3. Jordy Nelson, Packers (@ Falcons)
4. Brandin Cooks, Patriots (@ Saints)
5. Mike Evans, Bucs (vs. Bears)
6. Odell Beckham Jr., Giants (vs. Lions)
7. A.J. Green, Bengals (vs. Texans)
8. Doug Baldwin, Seahawks (vs. 49ers)
9. Michael Thomas, Saints (vs. Patriots)
10. Amari Cooper, Raiders (vs. Jets)
11. Tyreek Hill, Chiefs (vs. Eagles)
12. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots (vs. Saints)
13. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals (@ Colts)
14. Demaryius Thomas, Broncos (vs. Cowboys)
15. Michael Crabtree, Raiders (vs. Jets)
16. Keenan Allen, Chargers (vs. Dolphins)
17. DeAndre Hopkins, Texans (@ Bengals)
18. Alshon Jeffery, Eagles (@ Chiefs)
19. Terrelle Pryor, Redskins (@ Rams)
20. Stefon Diggs, Vikings (@ Steelers)

I’m debating between Brady and Jones as my first overall selection. The choice became easier after I saw the options behind Julio. Take the Falcons receiver No. 1 overall. Brown could get Xavier Rhodes (if healthy), Nelson is one of four options for Rodgers, Cooks will be overly-popular with the revenge factor, Evans will have decent coverage, and Beckham isn’t 100 percent (tough coverage by Darius Slay, too).

Later in the DRAFT draft, aim for Allen as your WR2. If you were able to stay awake and watch the end of Monday Night Football Pt. 2, you saw Allen notch five receptions on 10 targets and even score a touchdown against the stingy Broncos secondary. Allen’s matchup will be easier in Week 2.
