There are just 12 games going in tonight’s slate and three weather events worth avoid altogether, so we basically only have 9 games to work with. One is in Coors, but the obvious pitcher is too expensive to stack Coors players so let’s take a look at how I put it together:
NYY @ BAL – 85% chance at delay, 45% cancellation
PHI @ NYM – 80% chance at delay, 45% cancellation
TOR @ BOS – 50% chance at delay, 15% cancellation
KCR @ DET – 30% chance at delay

Pitcher
Carlos Carrasco (CLE): $10,100 @ CHW
The Indians are a whopping -250 favorite tonight at Chicago where the struggling rookie, Reynaldo Lopez, opposes them. Vegas has the White Sox at just 3.34 implied runs, which is far and away the low total on the slate. Carrasco has been on fire lately, so we can expect the win and quality start along with a handful of strikeouts or perhaps even double-digits. It makes all the sense in the world to build our lineup around him.
Catcher
Salvador Perez (KCR): $2,500 @ DET
Perez will be batting in the middle of the order tonight against Matt Boyd, who carries a 5.92 ERA and has allowed a .314/.378/.508 line against righties. Perez already has 22 homers this season and could put another one on the tally tonight.
First Base
Ryan Zimmerman (WAS) : $3,500 @ MIA
Like Perez above him, Zimmerman draws a lefty tonight. Dillon Peters has just one game to his MLB career so far and it was a beauty after tearing up the minors for a 1.57 ERA this season. Zimmerman is a lefty masher, however, posting a .980 OPS against the split this season.
Second Base
Rougned Odor (TEX): $3,300 @ ATL
After the weather gave the Rangers the night off, Odor gets to tee up against Julio Teheran, who is prone to giving up homers. The wind is blowing out at 10 MPH in what is already considered a hitter’s haven so we could see the middle infielder put one in the bleachers tonight.
Third Base
Jeimer Candelario (DET: $2,200 vs KCR
Jason Hammel is sporting a 4.80 ERA this season and has already surrendered 23 homers. The switch hitting Candelario is a rookie with a .389 BA and a few extra base hits in his 5 games since joining Detroit. Prior to then, he carried an .880 OPS in Triple-A as a top 100 prospect.
Shortstop
Carlos Correa (HOU) : $3,700 @ SEA
If you are going to spend up tonight, this is the spot to do it. Shortstop is a wasteland and Andrew Moore just isn’t very good. The Astros are implied for 5.10 runs tonight against the young righty, and Correa will be batting clean-up.
Outfield
Charlie Blackmon (COL): $4,900 vs SFG
Andrew McCutchen (PIT): $2,800 vs CHC
Sean Rodriguez (PIT) : $2,000 vs CHC
Blackmon at Coors and against the righty is the top play on the slate, even with his big salary. The Rockies are expected to score 6.51 runs tonight, which is one of the top lines on the season, and Blackmon has not just been the top fantasy player to the date this season, but the splits work perfectly in his favor.
McCutchen has taken a big step back after surging back onto the scene earlier this year, but he is still hitting an incredible .306/.419/.685 against lefties this season. Quintana is not any kind of opponent to pick on, but he has allowed 22 homers this season and 21 were to righties. Likewise, 24 of his 30 doubles have been to righties, so the matchup makes sense with McCutchen and his price point.
Finally, we have the value of the slate. Another righty going against Quintana, who has been a lefty-mauler his entire career. Last season, Sean Rodriguez broke out, posting an .859 OPS overall, and while he hasn’t quite done that this season, his OPS against lefties is still over .900.
