FanDuel NFL Lineup Advice: Week 3 (Mini Slate)

FanDuel NFL Lineup Advice: Week 3 (Mini Slate)

In this article, we will be taking a look at a relatively new slate that was introduced about half-way through the MLB season this year. Unlike a traditional FanDuel NFL lineup, you only have to roster five players (QB, RB, RB, WR, WR) in the FanDuel Mini format. One other slight difference is that all tight ends also appear as wide receivers, so you do have the option of using a tight end if you choose to do so. The total salary cap ($60,000) is the exact same as a traditional NFL FanDuel lineup, but they do scale the salaries up a little bit to accommodate for the smaller roster size. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite options for the FanDuel Mini slate in Week 3.

Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers (GBP): $14,000 vs. CIN
I believe this is another week we can afford to spend up at quarterback in our lineups since we probably do not have to spend up at wide receiver. If we’re going to spend up, we might as well go all the way up to Aaron Rodgers. The Packers have always been a pass-heavy team since Aaron Rodgers has been their starting quarterback and that does not appear to be changing anytime soon, considering he made over 40 passing attempts in each of his first two games this season. That trend should continue in Week 3 against the Bengals, who have not looked too great on defense through the first two weeks.

Running Back

Le’Veon Bell (PIT): $14,000 at CHI
Le’Veon Bell has still yet to find the end zone in 2017, which means he is way overdue for a huge game. Last week he had 27 rushing attempts and caught all four of his targets for a total of 31 touches. He should be in line for a similar number of touches this week in a great matchup against the Bears. The Steelers are huge favorites despite being on the road, which means Bell should get a ton of volume in the second half of this game.

Kareem Hunt (KCC): $13,000 at LAC
Kareem Hunt has looked unstoppable through his first two games of his NFL career with five touchdowns on a total of 38 touches. Hunt should continue to feast since we know that Andy Reid has always been a coach who likes to have a bell cow running who receives a majority of the workload. The Chargers have been decent against the run through the first two games of the season, but that will not scare me off of using Hunt this week.

Wide Receiver

A.J. Green (CIN): $11,000 at GBP
The Bengals have faced two really difficult defenses so far in 2017, which has resulted in zero touchdowns scored. I do not think the Bengals win this game in Green Bay, but I am fairly confident that their offense will not get shut down to the extent it has each of the past two weeks considering the Packers’ defense is not too great. A.J. Green has continued to be Andy Dalton’s favorite target with a total of 18 targets and 10 receptions through their first two games.

Adam Thielen (MIN): $8,000 vs. TBB
This portion of our lineup may need to be changed if we find out that Sam Bradford will miss another game. For the time being, let’s just assume that Bradford will suit up for Week 3. Dating back to the last few games of last season, Thielen has really formed an excellent connection with Bradford and has gone over 150 receiving yards in three games. I cannot say for certain he will eclipse that number again if Bradford suits up, but I can guarantee that Thielen should see between eight and 10 targets, which makes him a solid value wide receiver in this format.
