Fantasy Football Week 2 Flex Favorites

Fantasy Football Week 2 Flex Favorites

Flex your fantasy muscles by starting the best players at the flex positions. We deal with the dilemma of who to start in our flex sports every week which is why I have decided to write this article. You will find the five best flex plays of the week. What qualifies as a flex play?

A flex player is a player not in the top 60 players according to FantasyPros Flex Week 2 Rankings in half point PPR leagues as of Wednesday. I decided to go with the no players in the top 60 to target 12-team leagues that start two running backs and three wide receivers (5 players x 12 teams = 60 players). The players below will only be running backs or wide receivers since these are the two most common positions that fill the flex spot.

Tyrell Williams (WR – LAC) vs. MIA
This is a great matchup for Williams this week as he matches up nicely with the Dolphins cornerbacks. The Dolphins defense this preseason was not impressive against wide receivers and struggled against wide receivers who could stretch the field. Williams had a tough matchup Week 1 against the Broncos in Denver. Even though he was in a tough matchup, Williams had seven targets which is a positive sign. Last season against the Dolphins Williams saw 11 targets and had five receptions for 125 yards and one touchdown. Hoping for a similar game this week but I’d settle for 75 yards and a touchdown which is doable.

Jonathan Stewart (RB – CAR) vs. BUF
Like we heard all offseason, Stewart will be the starting running back for the Panthers this season. He saw 18 carries and racked up 65 yards, and he also had two receptions for 17 yards and a touchdown. It’s funny how football works at times. All offseason we were talking about Christian McCaffrey catching touchdowns and yet it’s Stewart in Week 1. Man, I love football. The Bills defense looked good against the Jets, but I’d be willing to bet most teams will look good against the Jets. Stewart finished as an RB1 in Week 1 and he will continue to be a solid option if he sees 20 touches a game.

Cooper Kupp (WR – LAR) vs. WAS
Kupp is the go-to guy for Jared Goff. He will lead the team in targets and receptions this season, take that to the bank. He saw six targets and had four catches for 76 yards and one touchdown. He would have had a better game if the Rams didn’t totally blow out the Colts 46-9. Three of Kupp’s catches were on third down which emphasizes to me that Goff is looking for him when it matters the most. The Rams will play the Redskins who gave up 307 passing yards to Carson Wentz and showed some holes in that secondary. Sammy Watkins will draw Josh Norman which should mean even more targets for Kupp in Week 2.

James White (RB – NE) vs. NO
I expect this game to be high scoring. In fact, I would be very surprised if this wasn’t the highest scoring game of the week. The Saints defense was not good against the Vikings, and if we are rolling the dice with Patriot running backs, then I like White in a game that will be a passing frenzy. The Saints and the Patriots gave up a combined 1,007 yards in Week 1, currently the two worst defenses in the NFL. Now, I don’t think the Patriots have the worst defense in the NFL, but I am not confident about the Saints. White had 13 touches last week, and if he gets 13 touches this week against this Saints defense he will be a solid flex option.

Ted Ginn (WR – NO) vs. NE
Like I said above I think this will be the highest scoring game of the week which means I want as many pieces of this game that I can get my hands on. The Patriots gave up 537 passing yards last week to the Chiefs. The defense looked lost and gave up way more huge plays than we are used to seeing from a Bill Belichick coached defense. I think the Saints will be losing the entire game which should mean more targets for Ginn and a possible garbage time touchdown. Normally I don’t like to rely on garbage points, but my gut is telling me the Patriots are going to take their anger from an embarrassing loss to the Chiefs out on the Saints.
