Bobby Sylvester’s Week 7 Rankings (Fantasy Football)

Bobby Sylvester’s Week 7 Rankings (Fantasy Football)

This week is off to a good start with Amari Cooper going nuts last night on Thursday night football. As always, I’ve got a few rankings that will jump off the page to you so I’ll explain those four and why I believe each will perform as I’m predicting. If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to let me know on Twitter.

Jared Goff (QB #19) LAR vs SF @ London

Trevor Siemian started the season with two great weeks against decent defenses, but somehow everyone has discounted him as a terrible quarterback after a few rougher performances. Yet Goff, who was significantly worse last season, gets crushed in back to back weeks (33 for 68 passes for 20 total fantasy points) and everyone is quick to forgive him and consider him a borderline start. I’m not going anywhere near that this week and I don’t advise you to consider it either in London against Patrick Peterson and friends.

Joe Mixon (RB #16) CIN @ PIT

Mixon has had three starts against three solid run defenses and hasn’t been inspiring, but in each of those games, he had between 15 and 21 touches. You can bet on another 15+ again, coming off the bye and against one of the bottom run defenses in football. Any time you get that combination, you start the running back, even if it’s Trent Richardson. Mixon is significantly better than that however and has a huge breakout ceiling this week along with his safe floor.

Bennie Fowler (WR #33) DEN @ LAC

As you may have heard, Emmanual Sanders is already ruled out for the week. Demaryius Thomas is expected to play, but with a banged up calf, plus he will more than likely see most of Casey Hayward in coverage. Last week, Fowler led the Broncos in snaps and saw 8 targets, several of which were in the red zone. In fact, Fowler leads the Broncos in red zone targets this season. With an expected 80% snap count and another 8+ targets, Fowler is a safe flex play this week.

Austin Hooper (TE #9) ATL @ NE

The sophomore tight end only has one touchdown on the season, but Matt Ryan has given him more red zone targets than Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, Tevin Coleman and Devonte Freeman so the touchdowns will come. This is especially true when you consider that he’s got 16 targets in the past two weeks compared to just six in the first three combined. New England has been among the worst teams in football at defending tight ends this season, and with this game expected to be a shootout, Hooper could be in for his top performance of the year.
