DRAFT NFL Lineup Advice: Week 7 (Thur/Sun/Mon)

Last week, we spotlighted Deshaun Watson and Larry Fitzgerald. Watson finished with the second-highest point total from the QB group and Fitzgerald was also second in the WR/TE category.

Now, on to the Week 7 rankings…

Quarterback

1. Tom Brady, Patriots (vs. Falcons)
2. Drew Brees, Saints (@ Packers)
3. Matt Ryan, Falcons (@ Patriots)
4. Dak Prescott, Cowboys (@ 49ers)
5. Carson Wentz, Eagles (vs. Redskins)
6. Russell Wilson, Seahawks (@ Giants)
7. Marcus Mariota, Titans (@ Browns)
8. Cam Newton, Panthers (@ Bears)
9. Kirk Cousins, Redskins (@ Eagles)
10. Alex Smith, Chiefs (@ Raiders)

It’s no surprise that the Super Bowl LI rematch puts both quarterbacks within the top three spots of the quarterback rankings. New England has the highest implied point total of Week 7, 29.25 points, and Atlanta is given a 25.75 implied point total from Vegas.

As for the Patriots defense, or lack of, EVERY quarterback who has faced them this season has thrown for over 300 yards and five-out-of-six QBs has notched at least two passing touchdowns.

Since this is the first week where we see divisional opponents meeting for a second time, we have some prior experience to work with for the rankings. Carson Wentz threw for 307 yards and two TDs against Washington in Week 1. Also, Wentz has thrown at least three TDs in back-to-back games. Look for his magical run to continue in Week 7. Vegas has given the Eagles the second-highest implied point total, 26.5. Currently, tied with New Orleans.

Running back

1. Le’Veon Bell, Steelers (vs. Bengals)
2. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (@ 49ers)
3. Kareem Hunt, Chiefs (@ Raiders)
4. LeSean McCoy, Bills (vs. Buccaneers)
5. Todd Gurley, Rams (vs. Cardinals)
6. Leonard Fournette, Jaguars (@ Colts)
7. Melvin Gordon, Chargers (vs. Broncos)
8. Mark Ingram, Saints (@ Packers)
9. Devonta Freeman, Falcons (@ Patriots)
10. Jay Ajayi, Dolphins (vs. Jets)
11. Alvin Kamara, Saints (@ Packers)
12. Carlos Hyde, 49ers (vs. Cowboys)
13. Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (@ Bears)
14. Jordan Howard, Bears (vs. Panthers)
15. C.J. Anderson, Broncos (@ Chargers)
16. Jerick McKinnon, Vikings (vs. Ravens)
17. Doug Martin, Buccaneers (@ Bills)
18. DeMarco Murray, Titans (@ Browns)
19. Chris Thompson, Redskins (@ Eagles)
20. Tevin Coleman, Falcons (@ Patriots)

Outside of the usual top three (Le’Veon Bell, Ezekiel Elliott, and Kareem Hunt), I would strongly recommend LeSean McCoy. Though Tampa Bay is only allowing the 16th-most points to opposing running backs, consider McCoy as a receiver in this matchup. Jordan Matthews has been limited in practice and Tyrod Taylor‘s other favorite option, Charles Clay, will likely miss this game. That puts McCoy into more of a receiving-back role. Shady McCoy already leads the Bills with 27 receptions this season. The Bucs are allowing the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers in 2017.

Another pass-catching RB to keep your eye on is Alvin Kamara. Yes, Mark Ingram is the running back getting the majority of carries in New Orleans. But, with Adrian Peterson completely out of the mix, Kamara had a season-high 10 carries along with his three receptions in Week 6. Also, Kamara is second on the Saints in targets (32) and receptions (24).

Wide receiver/Tight end

1. Antonio Brown, Steelers (vs. Bengals)
2. Julio Jones, Falcons (@ Patriots)
3. A.J. Green, Bengals (@ Steelers)
4. Michael Thomas, Saints (@ Packers)
5. Mike Evans, Buccaneers (@ Bills)
6. Dez Bryant, Cowboys (@ 49ers)
7. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals (@ Rams)
8. Tyreek Hill, Chiefs (@ Raiders)
9. Jordy Nelson, Packers (vs. Saints)
10. Chris Hogan, Patriots (vs. Falcons)
11. Michael Crabtree, Raiders (vs. Chiefs)
12. Doug Baldwin, Seahawks (@ Giants)
13. Brandin Cooks, Patriots (vs. Falcons)
14. Demaryius Thomas, Broncos (@ Chargers)
15. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots (vs. Falcons)
16. Zach Ertz, Eagles (vs. Redskins)
17. Adam Thielen, Vikings (vs. Ravens)
18. Jarvis Landry, Dolphins (vs. Jets)
19. Devin Funchess, Panthers (@ Bears)
20. Rishard Matthews, Titans (@ Browns)

Now, to some actual wide receivers. Dez Bryant has had some difficult matchups all season long. This Sunday, he gets some easier competition. San Francisco has allowed four wide receivers to tally over 100 yards in the past four games. Bryant has yet to notch 100 receiving yards in a game this season. Look for that to change in Week 7.

Honestly, after Larry Fitzgerald, it was tough to construct the rest of the list. This is a good week to take one WR early and then wait until the end and take some fliers in your DRAFT draft.

Two names that stand out are at the bottom of my Top 20: Devin Funchess and Rishard Matthews. Funchess has seen at least eight targets in four straight games. His teammate, Kelvin Benjamin, left practice early on Wednesday with a knee issue. If he’s hampered going into Sunday’s game, Funchess will continue to get his targets and maybe even some bonus looks against the Bears.

Rishard Matthews gets Cleveland. The Browns allowed five receiving touchdowns in the past three games and seven TDs in the last five contests. Though, it could be a headache to decide if Matthews or Eric Decker will be the one scoring the touchdown.
