Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 6

Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 6

For the second consecutive week, Deshaun Watson led the way as my “Streamer of the Week”, and he came through as the top QB once again with 35.5 points. Unfortunately, his ownership spiked from 34 percent to 89 percent, so he will not qualify for the list this time around. However, if you did add him as a streaming option you probably don’t need to stream quarterbacks anymore except for Watson’s bye week.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins produced TE1 numbers despite his seven percent ownership. Seferian-Jenkins caught 6 passes for 29 yards and one touchdown. With the unpredictability and inconsistency at the position, streaming could continue to be the best options for those who don’t have one of the top guys at tight end.

Before we move forward with the top streamers of Week 6, here are the complete results from last week’s article:

Quarterback

  • Deshaun Watson – 261 Pass Yards, 5 TDs, 31 Rush Yards = 35.5 FP
  • Jared Goff – 288 Pass Yards, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, 22 Rush Yards = 7.7 FP
  • Josh McCown – 194 Pass Yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT = 13.5 FP

Tight End

As we look ahead to Week 6, remember that in order to qualify for this list the selected players must be owned in no more than 40 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Quarterback Streaming Options

QB Stream of the Week: Josh McCown vs. New England (4% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

No team has given up more fantasy points to the QB position than the New England Patriots, and it’s not even close. The Pats have allowed a league-high 12 touchdown passes and a league-high 1,675 passing yards through the first five weeks of the season. Furthermore, we can bank on them playing with a lead throughout this matchup, opening up the potential for some good ol’ garbage time points for McCown and co. The journeyman quarterback is far from flashy, but he has managed to score 13+ points in three out of five contests so far in 2017. Keep in mind that he also played two of the top pass defenses in Buffalo and Jacksonville, which were also the two games he struggled in. This is by far McCown’s most favorable matchup of the season and I am expecting low-end QB1 numbers and his best game of the season.

Trevor Siemian vs. New York Giants (30% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

After starting the season off with back-to-back 22+ fantasy point games, Siemian cooled off while failing to hit just 12 points in the following two matchups. He will be well rested and playing at home fresh off of a bye in Week 5. The Denver signal-caller is up against a Giants defense that is ranked 23rd in the NFL, allowing over 18 fantasy points per game to opposing QBs. New York’s defense has not only struggled at slowing down the passing game, but they have also mustered just one interception all season. Plug Siemian in at quarterback and enjoy some primetime Sunday Night Football!

Tight End Streaming Options

TE Stream of the Week: Austin Seferian-Jenkins vs. New England (28% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

Seferian-Jenkins cracks the list for the second time in as many weeks, but this time as my “Streamer of the Week”. The 25-year-old has compiled 18 targets in his past three matchups, tied for the most on his team during that span. He has also been one of the more consistent tight ends since serving his two-game suspension, scoring eight or more fantasy points in all three of his games played so far this season. Similarly to McCown, the game-script versus the Patriots should work in his favor as the Jets offense will all have the opportunity to rack up some garbage time points. Furthermore, the New England defense is ranked in the bottom five in points against to the tight end position.

Ed Dickson vs. Philadelphia (5% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

After a solid Week 4 outing, Dickson outdid himself with a career-high 175 yards receiving on five receptions versus the Lions. Having said that, it was Dickson’s first 100-yard game in his eight-year NFL career, so don’t expect anywhere near that kind of production moving forward. This week he faces a middling Philadelphia defense that ranks 15th against opposing tight ends. Given the injuries and four teams on bye weeks, you could do worse than Dickson, who has been on fire the past two weeks.

Benjamin Watson vs. Chicago (22% owned in Yahoo Leagues)

Even though Watson is coming off his worst game of the season, I still like him as a streaming option against the Bears. Watson’s production can be hit or miss because of Baltimore’s poor offensive output as a whole, but it’s worth mentioning that he was a top 10 fantasy tight end heading into Week 5. The 14-year-veteran has scored nine or more points three times so far this season, and while his ceiling is limited, he isn’t a bad bet to hit that double-digit barrier in PPR formats. The Ravens face a Bears team coming off a short week and one that ranks in the middle of the pack in pass defense, specifically against the tight end position.
