Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 7

Quarterback and Tight End Streamers: Week 7

The big news that stole the spotlight in Week 6 was the injury to Aaron Rodgers, who could miss the remainder of the 2017 season with a broken collarbone. On top of Rodgers obviously being out, Deshaun Watson and Matthew Stafford are two more QB1s that won’t play in Week 7 due to their bye weeks.

No notable tight ends will miss action in Week 7, unless you for some reason consider Eric Ebron or Ryan Griffin a TE1, in which case you should probably find a new hobby. Let’s move away from my terrible jokes and take a look at my results from last week’s article.

For the third straight week my “Streamer of the Week” finished as a top seven quarterback overall. However, he should have finished higher as Josh McCown was robbed of a touchdown pass to Austin Seferian-Jenkins that would have placed him second overall this week with 24.3 fantasy points. Despite being owned in just four percent of all Yahoo leagues, McCown came through in a golden matchup against the Patriots.

My tight end “Streamer of the Week” was actually Seferian-Jenkins as well, sticking with the theme of going against the 32nd ranked New England pass defense. ASJ scored top-five numbers even though he “lost a fumble” that really should have been called a touchdown.

Before we move forward with the top streamers of Week 7, here are the complete results from last week’s article:

Quarterback

  • Josh McCown – 354 Passing Yards, 2 TDs, 21 Rushing Yards = 20.3 FP
  • Trevor Siemian – 376 Passing Yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 9 Rushing Yards = 15.9 FP

Tight End

As we look ahead to Week 7, remember that in order to qualify for this list the selected players must be owned in no more than 40 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.

Quarterback Streaming Options

QB Stream of the Week: Tyrod Taylor (BUF) vs. Tampa Bay (37% owned in Yahoo Leagues)
Tampa Bay is allowing nearly 20 fantasy points per game to the quarterback position and are coming off a poor defensive outing against an underperforming Arizona offense. Carson Palmer threw for 283 yards and a season-high three touchdowns. I don’t expect similar numbers for Tyrod Taylor due to a lack of weapons, but he should still be able to muster 200 yards passing with a pair of touchdowns, and some decent rushing totals. Taylor hasn’t put up big numbers this season but with four games of 10+ points he remains a relatively high-floor option.

Josh McCown (NYJ) at Miami (8% owned in Yahoo Leagues)
With three games of two or more touchdown passes, McCown has shown the ability to be a QB1 in favorable matchups. The Dolphins are ranked 10th in fantasy pass defense, allowing 14 points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Even though I wouldn’t call this a favorable matchup, McCown is coming off his best game of the season, and the Jets have played significantly better than most thought they were capable of. The 38-year-old quarterback threw for 249 yards and one touchdown in Week 3 against the Dolphins. If you are in need of a bye week filler, McCown could give you similar numbers.

C.J. Beathard (SF) vs. Dallas (1% owned in Yahoo Leagues)
Beathard replaced Brian Hoyer in the second quarter of Week 6’s matchup versus Washington. The rookie looked a bit raw but he also threw for 245 passing yards and one touchdown in limited action. Additionally, he looked calm and comfortable running Kyle Shanahan’s QB friendly offense. The benefit to starting Beathard is that you will get garbage time potential and some rushing ability as well. Plus, the Cowboys secondary has been suspect so far this season, ranking 25th in the NFL in fantasy points against. They have also allowed 11 touchdown passes in just five games. The options are a bit limited here with the tough criteria of choosing players with fewer than 40 percent ownership, so keep in mind that this is more of a recommendation for two QB leagues or deeper leagues with limited waiver options.

Tight End Streaming Options

TE Stream of the Week: Jack Doyle (IND) vs. Jacksonville (40% owned in Yahoo Leagues)
T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief could struggle with Jacksonville’s elite duo of Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye at cornerback. The Jags are ranked second in the NFL at shutting down opposing wide receivers, which should result in extra targets for Indianapolis tight end Jack Doyle. On the flip side, Jacksonville has struggled in coverage versus opposing tight ends, currently sitting 21st in the NFL in fantasy points against to the position. Doyle has scored 12 or more fantasy points in two of five matchups this season.

Tyler Kroft (CIN) at Pittsburgh (11% owned in Yahoo Leagues)
With Tyler Eifert out for the rest of the year, Kroft will have the opportunity to step up in a tight end-friendly offense and one with limited receiving threats outside of A.J. Green. The Cincinnati tight end has recorded two consecutive games of four or more receptions and should continue to be a big part of the offense moving forward. Even though the matchup isn’t ideal, Kroft is a nice streaming options based on volume alone,

George Kittle (SF) vs. Dallas (8% owned in Yahoo Leagues)
Over the past two weeks, Kittle has compiled a total of 17 targets and 30 fantasy points in PPR formats. He is now being reunited with his starting QB from Iowa in C.J. Beathard so you can expect his targets to remain steady this week and moving forward. Furthermore, as I mentioned earlier, there will be some garbage time potential for all players on the 0-6 49ers. The matchup isn’t a factor as the Cowboys rank near the middle of the pack in terms of fantasy defense against the tight end position.
