Let’s take a look at notable salary changes as we head into Week 13 of the NFL season.

Quarterbacks

Philip Rivers (LAC): $8,000 vs. CLE (+$400)
Rivers torched the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day to the tune of 434 passing yards and three touchdowns, which resulted in a modest spike in his salary heading into Week 13. The Browns are in town this week, and they’ve held their own over the past three weeks against opposing passing attacks. Cleveland has allowed an average of 206 passing yards and two scores per game over their last three outings, but I think I’d take a chance in tournaments here as the Chargers are suddenly in the playoff hunt.

Dak Prescott (DAL): $7,500 vs. WAS (-$1,400)
Prescott laid another dud in Week 12, as he scored just 5.16 FDP in a loss to the Chargers. The absence of Ezekiel Elliott is having an impact on this offense, but a temporary respite could be on the way. The Redskins are in town for a Thursday night showdown, which presents a favorable matchup for Prescott.

Washington has allowed an average of 275 passing yards and two touchdowns over their last four games, which includes just 113 yards allowed last week. After such a steep drop in salary, I think there’s some merit in buying Prescott in tournaments this week.

Running Backs

Peyton Barber (TB): $5,600 @ GB (+$1,100)
After scoring two touchdowns in Week 12 against the Falcons, Barber’s salary jumped the most among all running backs this week. Context is important when looking at Barber’s 12.7 FDP outing in Week 12, as he received just five carries on the day.

Two of those wound up with him in the end zone, but I don’t know that we can count on that in Week 13. While there’s a chance he could see an expanded role if Doug Martin remains on the shelf with a concussion, I’m not interested in chasing points in Week 13.

Kareem Hunt (KC): $6,900 @ NYJ (-$800)
Yuck. Hunt’s price continued it’s free fall in the second half of the season, as it dropped another $800 after the rookie scored just 3.1 FDP in Week 12. That’s four straight outings of less than 10 FDP, as Hunt and the Chiefs continue to struggle. On deck is a Week 13 matchup against the Jets, who allowed 145 rushing yards and two scores last week to the Panthers.

I’d like to think this is a spot where Hunt can turn things around, but his usage has been all over the place, which makes him difficult to trust. Just simply due to the price, I think you can utilize Hunt in tournaments, but I wouldn’t risk it if you’re creating a single entry.

Wide Receivers

Cordarrelle Patterson (OAK): $5,500 vs. NYG (+$1,000)
Patterson’s price jumped in anticipation of the Raiders likely being without Michael Crabtree and/or Amari Cooper in Week 13, as the former was ejected for fighting while the latter was knocked out cold on a vicious hit. If one or both of them are out, Patterson figures to see an increased role against the Giants this week. He’s nothing more than a deep flier, however, but I think his big-play ability does make him worth rolling the dice on should one of the receivers be out this week.

Antonio Brown (PIT): $9,100 @ CIN (-$500)
Despite scoring 35.9 FDP in Week 12, Brown’s price dropped ahead of a tough matchup that looms against the Bengals. Cincinnati always seems to have a plan for stymying the talented wideout, so you might want to proceed with caution this week. That’s not to say you should eliminate your exposure altogether, but the prudent move would be to reduce your shares of Brown in Week 13.

Tight Ends

Ricky Seals-Jones (ARI): $5,600 vs. LAR (+$300)
Well, Seals-Jones did his best in Week 12 to prove that his Week 11 performance was no fluke. The once highly touted prospect from Texas A&M scored 15.2 FDP in a tough matchup against the Jaguars last week, and he’s now making a strong case for more opportunities moving forward.

On tap is a home date against the Rams, who have allowed just one receiving touchdown to opposing tight ends over their last four games. It’s probably worth taking notice now that Seal-Jones has performed in consecutive weeks, but don’t go crazy with your exposure.

Travis Kelce (KC): $7,000 @ NYJ (-$500)
Kelce had remained somewhat relevant over the past few weeks despite the Chief’s struggles, but that all changed last week against the Bills. Kelce hauled in three of his four targets for 39 yards, as Alex Smith’s play at the quarterback position was less than desirable.

A tough matchup awaits in Week 13, as the Jets have allowed a total of nine catches to opposing tight ends over their last three games with zero touchdowns. Much like teammate Kareem Hunt, it’s tough to totally eliminate your exposure here, but it’s probably time to reign in expectations until further notice.
